Davor Stefanović, one of the detained activists accused of an alleged attempt to subvert the constitutional order, had his nose broken in detention in Novi Sad, his lawyer Milan Pavković confirmed for "Vreme" on Wednesday (May 21).
Davor Stefanović, one of the three detainees activist which are still in prison, was beaten on Saturday (May 17) in prison, his lawyer Milan Pavković confirmed for "Vreme".
"My client was attacked on Saturday during a daily walk by a detainee, who is in the room next to Davor. He gave him several blows in the area of the face, as a result of which Davor suffered multiple fractures of both nasal bones. Davor was immediately transferred to the Emergency Center, where he received the necessary medical care," explains Pavković.
That the incident occurred was confirmed to the FoNet agency in the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions.
As stated in the Administration's announcement, on May 17, during a morning walk, another detainee cursed Davor Stefanović and punched him in the face, and members of the Security Service immediately separated them and took the detained DS to the prison clinic for a medical examination.
The doctor immediately issued an order to take Davor Stefanović to the Emergency Center of the Clinical and Hospital Center of Vojvodina for a complete diagnostic examination.
According to the Administration, Stefanović was returned to the Institute after all the examinations because the doctor's opinion was that he did not need a further stay in the hospital and "in accordance with that" was acted upon.
Davor Stefanović is not in the hospital, but is in custody.
Lawyer: Stefanović is in poor health
According to attorney Pavković, Stefanović is in poor health, he can only lie in one position in order to breathe.
"He was given the necessary medical care and assistance, he was prescribed appropriate medications at the Emergency Center of the Vojvodina Clinical and Hospital Center, but he was transferred to custody because, if I understood my client correctly, the doctor assessed that there was no need for hospitalization," Pavković told "Vreme".
As he adds, the public should be aware of that, and the court should also take that into account when deciding.
Pavković states that he was not informed about the incident until Wednesday, and that none of his family had such information until he went to visit Stefanović.
"No one informed me. I visited Davor on Friday and now I came again. As far as I know, from this one conversation with him, Davor expressed his wish that it be conveyed to me and it certainly had to be conveyed to me. Considering the public's interest in this case, I believe that it had to be conveyed to me."

Request for house arrest
Pavković states that he will inform the court about the developments on Thursday (May 22).
As stated in the statement of the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, the police administration and the prosecutor's office were informed about this case, in order to take further actions within their jurisdiction for the purpose of criminal prosecution of the detainee who attacked Davor Stefanović during the walk.
When it comes to Mladen Cvijetić, Srđan Đurić and Davor Stefanović, the Court of Appeal annulled the decision of the High Court in Novi Sad and sent the case back to the first-instance court for re-decision, because "sufficiently clear, concrete and complete reasons were not given regarding the existence of conditions for the eventual application of a lenient measure".
"The higher court did not fully consider the reasons for imposing a lenient measure in relation to custody. That is why it partially accepted the defense attorney's appeals, annulled the decision and sent it back for a new decision," says Pavković.
As he adds, he submitted evidence to the Court that all the conditions for Stefanović to be placed under house arrest have been met and that a decision on this will be made as a matter of urgency.
Six activists of the Movement of Free Citizens (PSG) and the organization STAV were detained on the eve of a large protest in Belgrade, on March 15, after a recording of a conversation between 12 activists from Novi Sad was broadcast on several pro-regime television stations and websites. They are accused of attempting to violate the constitutional order.
A warrant has been issued for six more activists from the organization STAV, since they are unavailable to the prosecuting authorities, and they have also been ordered to be detained, which will come into effect when they enter the country. They are Mila Pajić, Branislav Đorđević, Anja Pitulić and Jovan Dražić, as well as Doroteja Antić and Dejan Bagarić.

"The bastards and rascals of the blockaders used Vidovdan to announce the final physical confrontation with students who just want to study and fulfill their constitutionally guaranteed right to knowledge and education. Attacks on them will not be allowed," says the President of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabić
The trial of SNS activists for the attack on students in Novi Sad was postponed because one of the accused did not appear. According to the defense, he is undergoing treatment. The court scheduled a new hearing for June 30
Vidovdan will be marked by two opposing gatherings in Belgrade - a student protest and a gathering of government supporters. The regime media is already announcing violence. Is intimidation and dissuading of citizens from protesting at work?
What are the constitutional powers, and what is the real role of the head of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Đur Matsut, in the political theater of Aleksandar Vučić. And what kind of responsibility does his consent to the degradation and deception of citizens entail
Aleksandar Vučić now has only the old, proven methods of classic dictatorships left, because these modern methods of insanity and poisoning the public are failing. And that, however, goes against his head
Vučić is not defending the state, but himself from the state. With a drum on his back and a guitar in his hands, this man-orchestra performs two or three of the same songs without hearing, with falsifications and falling out of rhythm. His government and politics are like that. In short - dangerous for the environment
Arrests of professors, punishment of people, firing of journalists... The regime of Aleksandar Vučić is shining and is yet to shine. It is the decadent phase of the regime, the one towards the end
