The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, who recently called her fellow citizens who protested about Rio Tinto "fascists" and whose "boss", as she calls him, Aleksandar Vučić, while he was a radical, really threatened to kill 100 Muslims for one killed Serb (the video is available on YouTube), had some complaints that the weekly "Vreme" chose the director Goran Marković as the person of the year.
Brnabić said that it was a "mockery" that "Vreme" recognized in Marković someone who stands for "the preservation of civic values and the culture of dialogue", that "it speaks of how they (weekly 'Vreme') see those values", and that told "Vreme" that "dialogue when you should shoot someone" and that it is "the most bizarre thing" she has seen in political life in Serbia.
There is no need to waste words on the bizarreness in the political life of Serbia in the last dozen progressive years, but as far as the specific objections to "Vremen" are concerned, here is what Goran Marković really said and what caused such an avalanche of anger in the progressive ranks: "I still I hope that Aleksandar Vučić has Ceausescu's end before his eyes and that he will retire without blood".
After more than thirty years of existence, it is very clear what values "Vreme" stands for, just as it is not at all unclear what values Mrs. Brnabić is promoting since Aleksandar Vučić appointed her as the head of the Government.
Here you can read the explanation of the weekly "Vreme" selection of Goran Marković as the person of the year.
