Students in the blockade and the citizens who support them continued to block the buildings Radio and Television of Serbia in Takovska street and on Kosutnjak.
The blockade of the buildings of Radio and Television of Serbia has entered its eighth day, and as announced, it will last until a new competition for members of the Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) is announced, or until "RTS is shut down."
RTS was forced to adjust the program schedule due to the difficult working conditions caused by the blockade, a criminal complaint was filed with the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade against an unknown person and the response of international institutions was requested.
RTS even apologized to the faithful, because due to the blockade it is unable to broadcast the traditional liturgies of the cross from the Church of Saint Sava, as well as the Catholic mass from the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, condemned the "violence that the blockaders are undertaking against RTS journalists and editors" and said that Serbia "will have the strength to protect the constitutional order".
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia expressed deep concern over the several-day blockade of RTS, considering it a "serious attack on media freedom and the right to information", which is why it called on international organizations and institutions to support media freedom in Serbia and to condemn all forms of pressure and blockade.
Ministers Ivica Dačić, Marko Đurić and Nenad Vujić, after a meeting with representatives of the Quinte countries, said that the illegal blockade of RTS represents "a direct attack on media freedom, the safety of journalists and the basic postulates of the rule of law", and that such actions "grossly violate not only domestic regulations but also international conventions".
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced that she is carefully monitoring the situation in Serbia, including the blockade of RTS, and calls on everyone to refrain from deepening tensions.
Students blocking the public service building have been blocking since April 14 at 22 p.m.
