Bahamas recognized independence Kosova, President Vyosa Osmani announced after a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Philip Davis. This is the fourth recognition of Kosovo's independence this year and, according to Osmani, the 121st in total.
In addition to the recognition of Kosovo's independence, the declaration signed in Nassau also implies the establishment of bilateral relations.
"Both countries also announce the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the Republic of Kosovo, with effect from the date of signing the Joint Agreement on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, in accordance with international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations from 1961," the declaration reads.
Syria, Sudan, Kenya…
In 2025, in addition to the Bahamas, Kenya, Sudan and Syria also recognized Kosovo's independence.
Kenya's recognition on March 26 is the first after a gap of four years, which followed Israel's recognition of Kosovo as an independent state in February 2021 following the Washington Accords.
Just 17 days later, the news arrived that Kosovo was recognized by Sudan, which caused ridicule among the public, since shortly before that, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Đurić, boasted that he had talked with his colleague from that country about improving relations between Serbia and Sudan.
On the other hand, there were no sharp reactions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the issue of Sudanese recognition, while in the case of Kenya it was announced that the MSP "will more decisively defend the territorial integrity of its country".
The news about the Syrian recognition of independence came from Riyadh at the end of October, where an agreement between Syria and Kosovo was signed through Saudi Arabia.
How many countries recognized the independence of Kosovo?
Depending on the source, the number of countries that recognize Kosovo as an independent republic varies from 80 to 121. After her visit to the Bahamas, Osmani gave a figure of 121, which does not agree with the official Belgrade narrative.
On the website of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, it is stated that from 2008 until today, a total of 108 countries signed the recognition, but that 28 of them withdrew the recognition in the meantime, while Guinea-Bissau withdrew and then brought the recognition again.
Some more neutral estimates state that to date Kosovo has been recognized by 110 full members of the United Nations. However, there is no clear consensus.
