Veselin Milić, a long-time high official Ministry of the Interior of Serbia and the chief of the Belgrade police, he was arrested this Friday (May 15) following a hearing regarding the disappearance of Aleksandar Nešović aka Baja.
Milić has been known to the public since May 3, 2023, when, after the mass murder at the Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School in Belgrade, he showed a list of children from Ribnikar planned for liquidation at a conference in front of the cameras. That's it violated the provisions several laws that protect the privacy of data and children, but also the Criminal Procedure Act.
Less than a year later, in February 2024, the then Minister of Internal Affairs, Bratislav Gašić, honored prominent individuals, among whom was Veselin Milić. Gašić distributed 22 gold medals and recognition of the highest degree for commitment to service and a gold medal for bravery, as well as recognition of the highest degree of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Star of Jakov Nenadović, which Milić received.
On that occasion, Milić thanked the state, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the Government of Serbia, minister of Internal Affairs Bratislav Gašić on investing in the Ministry of Internal Affairs through investing in equipment, facilities, uniforms, as well as education of police officers.
Vučić's adviser for the fight against crime
Since August 2018, Milić held the position Advisor to the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, for the fight against corruption and crime, as well as the Assistant Director for Promotion, Organization and Functioning of the Police Directorate.
When appointing Milić to the position of adviser, Vučić said that Milić is a young, serious and responsible man.
"Veselin Milić is a young, serious and responsible man. There is still a lot of important work and great challenges ahead of him. I am convinced that we will have excellent cooperation also within the scope of the work within the competence of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic," Vučić said. reported by Kurir.
Later, on Vidovdan 2021, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić awarded are 11 members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, among whom was Veselin Milić. Vučić honored Milić with the gold medal for bravery Miloš Obilić.
