President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić he stated on Monday that he always sought legality and legitimacy when elected to any office, repeating that he would elections to be held in the next three to four months, and that he could resign from his position at the end of July, August or September 1.
He stated that the decision he makes will certainly be transparent, as in the case of the resignation announcement, Vučić said at the press conference.
"Now I tell the citizens, I can no longer be president. You can be in power with the support of the people and with respect for the Constitution and the law. If my comrades propose me and if I want to be a candidate for prime minister, I will not hide it, I will come out with it," he said.
"I was always elected, I asked, with legality and legitimacy. That is the essence of democracy and democratic processes, and I will not give up on that, so whatever the people decide, that's how it will be," said Vučić.
Speaking of protest student lists in Kraljevo, he stated that there were about 3.000 to 4.000 people from all over Serbia at the meeting, adding that all participants were satisfied and that, as he assessed, it was democracy in action.
"It is theirs, who will speak to them at the rallies. Just wait until you see that list, you will understand what the future holds. Is the future Kokanović, Jovo Bakić, Božo Prelević, Bodiroga...? The citizens will decide, and if they decide, we will congratulate them and everything will be fine," emphasized Vučić.
He also said that Serbia keeps the rate of public debt at a low level and that today it is 43,7 percent of the gross domestic product.
"We have a little less than five billion euros in our account. Serbia has good cash, stable and high foreign exchange reserves. We have no problems, and some would like problems," said Vučić, answering the question of how the support package for socially vulnerable citizens that he presented will be financed.
