President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić published an author's text in the Kurir tabloid in which he presented his political and economic views plan for the next period, with the message that Serbia must implement "brave and serious reforms" and change the way the state functions.
In the text entitled "It will no longer be 'Do you know who I am?!'", Vučić assesses that the government, despite the economic results, has failed to protect citizens from the "arrogance and selfishness of the government", from the local to the state level. He stated that citizens might "accept worse results in exchange for more humanity and empathy."
The president claims that the economic cycle from 2014 to 2026 has ended and that during that time Serbia has reduced unemployment from 26 to eight percent, while the gross domestic product has increased from 32 to almost 100 billion euros. At the same time, he assesses that the world needs new political and economic adaptations due to global changes and conflicts of great powers.
The central part of the text is a five-point plan that entails a drastic reduction of the state apparatus, including the number of ministers, state secretaries and agencies, increasing productivity and work discipline, reforming education, solving energy issues with the possibility of developing nuclear energy, as well as stronger investment in robotics, artificial intelligence and modern technologies.
What does Vučić's plan contain?
1. Drastic reduction in the number of members of the Government, state secretaries, assistant ministers, as well as their apparatuses. More decisively and forcefully than 12 years ago, it is necessary to abolish numerous agencies, offices and administrations that serve their own purpose and have no essential reason for their existence. Also, it is necessary to approach additional deregulation, for which only we are responsible, such as unnecessary certification of goods coming from the EU, which is why those products have a higher price in Serbia than in the EU.

2. Increase in productivity and more work and dedication. We will have to work more, not less. I'm sorry to have to say this because I know how unpopular it is, but someone has to let people know. For months, there has been a dialogue about the abolition of working days and hours, and there will be greater motivation if we shorten working hours, and we will travel and live much better than today. That won't happen. We will work harder. I will start with myself and show that it is possible, and I will ask everyone else to do the same. Germany, as the engine of Europe, in order to withstand the industrial-technological competition with China and America, will increase working hours and days. Serbia must not and cannot accept irresponsible ideas about shortening working hours.
3. Courageous and powerful change of the complete educational system of Serbia. This means greater openness to the world, especially at the level of higher and higher schools, but also accepting, without hesitation and without flattering anyone, the dual education system, whereby the preparation of young people for the labor market is of crucial importance.
4. A comprehensive approach to solving all energy issues and problems, including the use of nuclear energy. We have not had new energy facilities for decades, we have built many things, but almost all of them out of necessity and pressured by external wars and sanctions. Even today, we are planning the construction of numerous oil pipelines, gas pipelines, interconnectors, hydropower plants, wind farms and solar power plants, but all this will not be enough for Serbia's energy stability without the construction of small and large nuclear plants in it. The cleanest and safest energy. Securing knowledge and money for ventures in this area will be the biggest challenge for the future government, just like managing mineral resources, raw materials, minerals and rare metals.
5. Aggressive acquisition of knowledge and its application in robotics, artificial intelligence and modern technologies. Further purchases of supercomputers and construction of data centers must not be interrupted due to lack of electricity. Data centers are the most important factories, the ones that create intelligence, and that is one of the things that will make a difference in our, Serbian advantage in relation to the region.
Let's recall that Vučić previously announced that he was preparing a "difficult program text" that would not be easy to implement and linked it to the future elections, stating that the elections are a "moment of truth" and a question of the future of the state, not the political fate of individuals.
