Regular member Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) and Professor of the Chemistry Faculty of the University of Belgrade, Radomir Saičić, stated that "it is clear to everyone" that on March 15, the government used illegal sound weapon against students and all gathered citizens.
Saičić said that the stories about the organized simulation of sonic weapons are "nonsense".
"I was one of the security coordinators for the students of the Faculty of Chemistry and student from Serbia that we hosted that day in Belgrade, and I claim that neither that day, nor ever before, there were any discussions about any simulations. Our priority was to protect the lives and health of the students, to know where they are at all times, and that was not at all easy in the huge mass of the gathered world," Saičić told the Beta agency.
According to him, the reaction of the mass of people to an attack with a sonic weapon cannot be planned or coordinated in advance.
"The current actions of the prosecutor's office and the police show how corrupt and perverted this system is: instead of taking measures to shed light on all aspects of the use of sonic weapons, they accuse the victims of wrongdoing, the students, as the organizers of the simulation, announce arrests, conduct searches, and according to the 'good old custom', state television in prime time presents lies that incriminate and target students and citizens," the academic said.
He stated that there are "numerous reasons for this kind of government action."
"Feared by the constant decline in its rating, and the comparative growth of the student movement, the government would like to declare the students a terrorist organization and prevent their participation in the elections. Another reason is to divert the public's attention from new, fresh illustrations of corruption at the very top of the state, such as the murder in Senjak, or the non-declaration of the property of the minister (Dubravka Đedović Handanović) in the Government of Serbia. Also, to divert the public's attention from the events in Kosovo and Metohija, where our people are facing the severe consequences of the final an act of treason", emphasized Saičić.
This government is trying to project its own evil, he added, on students and citizens, "with malice and immorality that exceed anything we have seen in recent decades."
"However, everything that is based on lies is doomed, with such moves they are hastening their end. The academic community has drawn up a letter to the High Public Prosecutor's Office in which a large number of signatories claim that sound weapons were used against citizens. If the public expression of this position is a reason for hearings, arrests and criminal proceedings, then we demand that we be heard as signatories of this statement," said academician Saičić.
