On the way out of the airport, your reporter made sure that there were indeed no illegal taxi drivers. Airport security and police did their part. Hopefully permanently
Representatives of the French company "Vanci", the concessionaires of the airport "Nikola Tesla" in Belgrade, achieved a small and initial victory for themselves, but a big one for the citizens of Serbia.
Your reporter found himself the previous evening at the exit door of the airport, where in recent years we have all been greeted by a sea of "wild" taxi drivers offering rides to the city center.
This time there were none. They were missing in action. But literally none were noticed. As he wandered around the arrivals area looking for at least one illegal transporter to mutter to himself, "Taxi, sir," your reporter began to scratch his head.
Is it possible that the concessionaires of the airport, in agreement with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the City of Belgrade, succeeded in saving at least a little money for passengers?
The only people who were seen on the plateau in front of the airport were members of "Vanci" security and a few policemen. That security - two guys and two girls in dark uniforms, chatted when the moment came to check if new dioptres were needed or if the airport had been "cleaned" for the first time.
"Excuse me, where's the taxi?", followed the question, to which they answered somewhat confusedly, "Over there, just go straight ahead. There they are in line, waiting for you."
The next question, where is the famous committee for welcoming and emptying our wallets, was followed by a victorious answer: "There are none." There won't be any more of them," said one of the security guards with a confident smile on her face.
So, it is true that Belgrade is without "wild" taxi drivers at the airport for the first time. And it pleases. There are no false promises and stolen taxi meters. Do you want a taxi? Take the voucher and drive according to the price list. As it should have been from the beginning. The ride from the airport to the top of Voždovac cost 3000 dinars.
