Lawyer Aleksandar Petrović visited the professor of sociology Marija Vasić, which is located in the Special Prison Hospital in Belgrade, announced N1.
Petrović said that Vasić was placed in the psychiatric ward, and that she continued her hunger strike, but not her thirst strike.
Talking about health condition of his client, Petrović said that Vasić was brought in in a wheelchair and that his client could not walk.
He added that he saw that a brownie was attached to her hand, and that Vasić told him that she was also receiving antibiotic therapy.
"She is still on a hunger strike. She is not on a thirst strike because otherwise her veins would be damaged and she would not be able to receive an infusion," the lawyer explained.
Petrović says that Vasić told him that all the medical staff at the Specija prison hospital are very professional and that they are trying to help her.
Vasić is placed in a psychiatric ward and is surrounded by psychiatric patients. The lawyer says that his client asked if the hospital management can guarantee her safety among psychiatric patients, and that the management replied that she is safe.
The same cannot be said for the actions of the police, who transported her to Belgrade. Petrović says that Vasić, despite her serious health condition, was not transported by ambulance, but was placed lying on the floor of the police station and that is how she arrived at the Special Prison Hospital.
"Only later did they lift her onto a chair and tie her there," he added.
Vasić said that she will remain on hunger strike until the court decides on the case of the activists accused of preparing an act against the constitutional order and until she releases them from custody.
The lawyer conveyed to the public his client's gratitude for the support she has and added that it means a lot to her that she has not been forgotten.
"She is in complete darkness, she only has access to some state media that do not convey what is happening in society," said the lawyer and added that he expects the Court of Appeal to make a decision today on the release of the activists.
On May 13, the High Court in Novi Sad made a decision to extend the detention for another 30 days for six activists, accused of preparing acts against the constitutional order and security of Serbia.
