Poetry in motion

Today, various forms of cinematic pop culture - which have long been marginalized - are increasingly recognized as auteur. It is precisely pop culture, as the "cultural skin", the first layer, that often says the most about us. The same is happening with the genre film - its variant of the art genre or the so-called "elevated genre film" is currently experiencing a remarkable time

The man who brought the stone to life

He claims that in a large block of marble he can see a sculpture that just needs to be freed from the deposits that hide it. He also goes to quarries, believing that he can recognize which pieces will suit him, because he senses the "flows" in their interior. By all accounts, Michelangelo never made a mistake, until the very end

Milena's Blue wedding dress

From New York, she wrote to her mother in Požarevac: "Here's how I work: I got it last Monday, today is Monday again - I haven't left the house since last Thursday." This is how the front page of "Vogue" magazine was created, one of Milena Pavlović Barili's artworks

Dilemmas: character and/or work

22.January 2025. Bratislav Nikolic

The lightness of condemnation, the gravity of sin

Art is often seen as timeless, but the role of the author is never completely invisible. While some artists are "cancelled" permanently, others manage to keep part of the audience or even renew their careers. This is precisely what shows how slippery the issue of separating the character and the work of the artist is

Do you remember what subtlety was?

It seems that some children are born more sensitive than others (though not necessarily more intelligent or talented at the same time). The world that surrounds them leaves a deeper mark on them, their impressions are more intense, they are easily moved to tears by both beauty and pain, regardless of whether it is their own or someone else's, their dreams are stormy, their fears and attachments are equally strong. Where the majority remain indifferent, their nerve endings, metaphorically speaking, are not covered with a thick enough skin, so not only are their sensory experiences sharpened, but the connection between them and feelings is extremely close: cold and fear seem indistinguishable, as well as warmth and pride or infatuation and the taste of salt on the tongue

Creativity as an eternal puzzle

There are few psychological properties as intriguing as creativity. The questions are numerous and extremely exciting - where does it come from, what does it depend on, can it be practiced, is it (always) related to madness... If we succeed in making something original, we consider it ours, and often call it that. , proud that we succeeded in such a thing. And if someone else succeeds in the same way, we can easily feel envy. Something about creativity "tickles" us a lot.

What it's like to be a stage designer

"The goal is not for people to feel like they are in a museum when they watch a historical drama. It is important for us that they can feel a relationship with the problems of their time, identify with situations and heroes"

The government is afraid of creativity and wit

"Whatever I do, I usually don't think about the consequences." Because if I thought about the consequences, then I wouldn't be able to do it. I think we would have many more successful creators in this field if they could overcome the fear that is very present here. There is no place for fear in art, these are two things that do not go together. The absence of fear is what distinguishes an artist from an ordinary decorator"

Where is the strength and power of the "little man"

"My only idea, at the moment, is to respect the law, for the institutions to do their job. Regarding Rio Tinto, to open the documents, to give clear information, to have clear answers. As for obstetric violence, how terrible is it that a doctor called 'The Butcher' gives birth to women, there have been deaths of babies for years, and he insults mothers on a national basis"

Creative Industries: The "Human Hand" vs. Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence has been making inroads into art more and more in recent years, which has sparked a debate over copyright and intellectual property. With programs like ChatGPT, DALL-E, and Midjourney, many artists are worried that their jobs could disappear in an instant.
