"What are the electoral conditions that ensure that women's hands are not broken in assemblies? What is this interest that is above human lives."

As Serbia counts the seventh femicide since the beginning of 2025, the activist group "Zene ze promene" is organizing a protest on Thursday (April 24), at Freedom Square in Novi Sad, from 18 p.m.
How the escapades of the popular presenter Sanja Marinković and her guests can endanger women who suffer domestic violence
Victims often have to tell their story all over again, to the police, prosecutors and judges. They face pressure from abusers and families to withdraw their charges or their testimony. They often lack the knowledge and support to navigate the court system, and the additional burden is the length of court proceedings
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is celebrated today, November 25. In Serbia, since the beginning of the year, 17 women have been killed in partner and family violence

Devastating statistics were presented by the Anonymous Women's Center. In 12 years, more than 400 women lost their lives in Serbia. It turns out that they most often suffer from the violence of close people
MP Ana Oreg proposes that people reported or convicted of domestic violence be monitored electronically from now on. Oreg tells "Vreme" that this way the number of murders of women can be reduced and he hopes that the authorities will finally accept some proposal of the opposition.
Throughout the Western Balkans, women are harassed, raped, beaten and killed. The perpetrators are usually their partners. Most countries in our region have adopted appropriate laws and regulations to combat violence against women, but their implementation is still inconsistent, say activists. Even after repeated reports of violence, competent institutions do not react adequately, and women remain unprotected
In the past ten years, more than 300 women lost their lives in gender-based violence in Serbia, and this year alone, 27 of them were killed, the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights announced.
Revenge pornography is one of the most terrifying phenomena and a brutal form of violence against women that should be taken as seriously as any other. But the aggravating circumstance is that most people still see pornography primarily as entertainment, while on the other hand, someone is literally falling apart and doesn't even want to live anymore.
In tomorrow's edition, the tabloid "Alo" publishes on its front page a photo of a half-naked woman who it claims works at the prosecutor's office, and that the photo was taken at the workplace. "Journalists against violence against women" ask what the prosecutor's office will do upon learning that public office holders knowingly participated in the act that is being prosecuted.
At first it seems that, full of strength and courage, women who have been victims of brutal violence in a partner relationship go public in order to protect themselves and send a message to other victims that there is hope. However, if they scratch below the surface, only a cry for help can be heard, because in addition to all the institutions, the media is the only refuge left for the victims.
The Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sevlid Hurtić, said that there are indications that the perpetrator of the murders received a tip from the security authorities about the whereabouts of his unmarried wife who escaped from his violence.

For women from seven municipalities of the Pčinj district, there is one Safe House, founded by the city of Vranje, and the capacity has been reduced from 25 to 10 places. Local governments (seven of them) bear the costs of accommodation, but they do not see gender-based violence as a priority, so the financial plan generally does not have specific funds allocated for housing women, or the total funds for social services are not used for housing women in the Safe House. This is also shown by the fact that no women from the municipalities of Vladičin Han, Bosilegrad, Preševo and Surdulica were placed in the Safe House for more than 12 months.

Turkish police prevented a protest march in Istanbul on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. On the same occasion, the President of Turkey stated that no woman should be exposed to violence. The Council of Europe's Istanbul Convention on the Protection of Women from Violence is criticized by conservative politicians in many countries even after 11 years.
"It is a huge responsibility to deal with such a 'living' and at the same time eternally current topic - women's history is the history of disenfranchisement and oppression. That's why I decided to stage the play as a contemporary tragedy, guided by the principle of less is more."
"Bata Santos" will be a member of the Government of Serbia's Coordinating Body for Gender Equality, a man who, as Minister of Defense, publicly said in 2015 that he "likes female journalists who kneel easily". That cost him a ministerial post, but that's why he became the head of the BIA, only to return to the government in style as the minister of internal affairs.
In the summer of 2017, Olga Lovrić and Maja Đorđević died in the same way: they were killed by their former partners in front of social work centers. In this period, the number of texts in which the act of violence is justified by external circumstances or personal characteristics of the abuser decreased (from 20 to 11 percent), and the responsibility for violence is less often shifted to the victim (from 10 to 7 percent of the analyzed posts). Credit goes to local activists and journalists who showed how to report professionally and fight against violence
