Opinion of the Venice Commission: Positive, but what - until it is read

The Venice Commission disclosed its opinion on constitutional changes related to the judiciary in Serbia. Minister of Justice Maja Popović immediately happily announced that it was "positive". The commission, however, points out the aspects that essentially retain the control of the executive power in relation to the judiciary, enable political influence on the selection of prominent lawyers, members of the High Council of the Judiciary and the courts...
