In an atmosphere resembling a state of emergency, with the presence of police, private security and citizens' protest, the constitutive session of the local assembly begins in Zaječar. The opposition claims that the new government is illegitimate and that it is defending itself from the people
The Nis opposition tried in vain to prevent the inevitable from happening. She only managed to extend the constituent session of the Niš City Assembly to 18 p.m. Then the "Aleksandar Vučić - Niš sutra" list elected Dragoslav Pavlović as mayor
At first authoritative glance at the continuation of the constitutive session of the Assembly of Serbia, it could be said that there was nothing new. But it's not like that. The progressives broadcast a clear threat from it
The deadline for constituting the Assembly of the City of Belgrade expires today. The session chaired by socialist Tom Phil as the oldest councilor should start at 10.00:XNUMX am. The SNS has already made the decision to repeat the Belgrade elections
The constituent session of the Assembly of the City of Belgrade, which was postponed on February 19 and scheduled for today at 10 am, has been postponed again, this time to March 3. The majority question is still uncertain
It is scheduled for today at 10 a.m., and it is still uncertain whether the constituent session of the Belgrade City Assembly will take place at all. Dobrica Veselinović from the Green-Left Front tells "Vreme" that the position of the pro-European opposition remains the same - that the session should not take place because the official result of the December elections does not reflect the will of the citizens.
For the first time since Vučić came to power in 2012, one can speak of a political crisis. The opposition must find a way to inflame it because otherwise Serbia will sink from the phase of autocracy into a form of dictatorship.
SNS and SPS bought more time and postponed the constituent session of the Belgrade Assembly scheduled for today at 10 a.m. to March 1. Opposition councilors had previously occupied the hall with banners that read "Theft will not pass". A little later, councilors from the NADA coalition joined them.
The ground is slowly settling after the start of the constituent session of the Serbian Parliament, which lasted 37 minutes today. Further earthquakes are expected. The progressive idea of normality has failed
On the occasion of the first working day of the parliamentary convocation, which was marked by whistles, blowing of whistles and banners, in the hall the members of the authorities say that they are very dissatisfied with the behavior of the opposition, that everything is a reflection of their impotence
MPs of the opposition and their cars were searched, everywhere was crowded with plainclothes police, MPs testify for "Vreme". They estimate that the first session of the Assembly looked as expected in authoritarian regimes
The opposition, committed to the policy of fighting bare legal and media violence with non-violent methods, can only hope that some other wind will begin to blow from Brussels and Washington.
The first working day of the new convocation was marked by whistles and banners. MPs of the opposition for "Vreme" announce the continuation of the fight. Co-president of the Green-Left Front, Biljana Đorđević, tells Vreme that the opposition's move is an echo of the demand not to start the constitutive session of the Serbian Parliament until we wait to see what the European Parliament has to say about the Serbian elections.
If you know the day by the morning, then the opposition announced at the constitutive session how the work of the National Assembly resulting from "electoral theft" will look like - like a political circus
What will the constitutive session of the Assembly look like when 78 out of 250 deputies believe that the extraordinary elections on December 17 were stolen at all levels and that they should therefore be annulled and repeated, and those responsible for "electoral engineering" prosecuted. The session should start at 10 o'clock
Translation
Opposition councilors are preventing the session from starting due to the large number of private security personnel present in the hall. They say that it cannot be done under such abnormal conditions.
SRCE: When and how was the private security company hired?
The Serbia Center party requested that the city authorities of Zaječar answer when and at whose request they hired the company Gold Gard, which does not have the provision of the Zaječar Municipal Assembly listed on its website, as well as whether a contract was signed and at what cost.
"Increasingly, like the cases in Zaječar and Kosjerić, as well as at sessions of municipal assemblies in several cities, private security is being hired, which is not known if it has a license from the Ministry of the Interior to perform that work," the announcement states.
It is added that the Law on Private Security stipulates that a security officer cannot perform his job if he does not have a visibly displayed identification card with him, unless he is hired as a security guard at a public gathering.
What happened in Zajecar?
From Monday evening, when a part of the street in the very center of the city was closed, the installation of fences around the building of the City Assembly began, and members of the police force and private security arrived early this morning, reports N1 reporter, stating that Red Star fans who were in Zaječar during the recent visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić were also seen. At certain moments, there was a push with members of the Police Brigade. Citizens shout at them: "Kerovi, kerovi!". As the Nova reporter reported, the police initially did not let some of the opposition councilors enter the building, and later they entered one by one. A female student was hit on the hand with a baton when she defended her father from the police. Most of the councilors of the opposition, who have 23 out of a total of 50 councilor mandates, joined the citizens at the protest before the beginning of the session, where the mandates of the councilors, the elected president of the City Assembly and his deputy, as well as the mayor, deputy mayor and members of the City Council should be confirmed.
Predrag Stanković, a candidate for councilor from the "Change we believe in" list, who was also a member of the legal team formed on the occasion of the elections held on June 8, stated that the constituent session is being held in "abnormal conditions" and that stopping traffic and erecting fences act as if "a state of emergency has been introduced." Stanković repeated the opposition's claims about election irregularities, but confirmed that opposition councilors will attend the session and take over mandates. According to him, the constitutive session is not only held in abnormal conditions, but also the new convocation of the Assembly does not legitimately reflect the will of the people, because it is based on electoral irregularities.
"If they had really won, there would be no need to isolate themselves from the people like this," Stanković said. Out of 50 council seats, 27 are held by the list "We will not give Serbia - Aleksandar Vučić", 19 councilors from the list "Change in which we believe - Uglješa Đuričković-Dragana Rašić" and four lists "United for saving Zaječar - Miladin Krstić - Mirko Jelenković".
