Consequences of the hacker attack on EPS

Confidential data of the "Bajina Bašta" hydropower plant has been available on the Internet for months

The confidential data of the "Bajina Bašta" hydropower plant has been available on the Internet for months due to a hacker attack on the Electric Power Company of Serbia that took place in December last year. The Office of the Commissioner for the Protection of Personal Data does not see anything objectionable in this, and EPS has signed multimillion-dollar contracts with companies in the past years in order to increase the security of information systems.

Policy of price increases and delayed reforms

Aleksandar Vučić and Siniša Mali, who essentially took over the management of the entire energy system of Serbia, do not want to tell the citizens either the real situation or their real intentions when it comes to the energy future of Serbia. They talk about it in principle, they talk about the green transition, about large investments, but nothing concrete is known or seen except for the increase in electricity bills.

Change at the top of the EPS: Miroslav Tomašević bothered the state

Those familiar with the events at the Electric Power Company of Serbia told the "Vreme" portal that Tomašević's replacement was foreseen because, as a man from the industry, he managed to restore the system after years of destruction, which was not to the liking of the state leadership.

Who guards our tracks

EPS: Hungarians want to buy hydropower plants

The proposal to withdraw 11 hydropower plants from EPS and transfer them to a new company that would be formed with the state company MVM has been rejected for now. It is hard to believe that MVM sent the proposal without prior discussions with the country's political leadership, and only a month after EPS became a joint stock company.

The government knows where the money is

There are no longer any legal impediments to the unhindered sale of EPS property, but neither are there any impediments to establishing a mortgage or any other pledge statement on EPS facilities, because EPS will not perform any activity of general interest in the future in accordance with the Energy Law

Consequences of EPS transformation: Without control and supervision

When the amendments to the founding act and statute of the Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda Srbije EPS come into force, its leaders will no longer be obliged to submit reports on assets and income, even though they will have public funds worth around 3,1 billion euros, warns Transparency Serbia (TS). . EPS will no longer be subject to the supervision of the Ministry of Economy or any other ministry

EPS in numbers

Economist Dragan Radović has been drawing the attention of the public (who is interested) to the enormous economic consequences of the loss of electricity in "transmission" for years. As a unit for easier understanding, he uses the comparison that this loss is so huge that it represents the amount of the annual production of Djerdap 1; if it were from the thermal sector, he says that an amount of lignite of the volume and size of Rtanj mountain is burned to produce electricity that is delivered from the place of production, but never reaches the place where it would be consumed and, of course, charged

Arrests in EPS: Six people damaged a public company for 7,5 million dollars

The Ministry of Internal Affairs detained six persons suspected of abuse of official position, actually for criminal acts that brought them great material benefit, reports RTS. The former acting director of EPS Milorad Grcic, under whom this public company collapsed, is not among them

In whose interest is it?

It was not enough to speed up the request for the transition to a joint-stock company, nor is it enough that the estimated value of the company in the amount of 3,1 billion euros is below the level of any economic justification (the estimated value in 2011, at the time of the unique JP EPS, was 14,6 .XNUMX billion euros), but the credibility of the company must still be destroyed. How to do it? Well, the easiest way is by spreading a false image about the company, which is already vilified in the public eye

Looking to 2022: Serbia in the hands of the "mice"

Although Milorad Grcic really leaves the head of the EPS, he will be replaced by a new Mica, who should first ask politics for everything, i.e. the party, i.e. leader, well, if the directive is not in accordance with the economic interest of the company, so much the worse for the company. Due to such a systemic personnel policy of SNS in state enterprises, it is difficult to give an economic forecast in Serbia for the next year

Public meetings with the president: Once shocked, now Googled

Compared to 2014, the position of Aleksandar Vučić is significantly different today. He is more experienced, more confident, more relaxed. Acting is an undoubted element of continuity, but now with much more overpowering and slyness. He learned to combine "good" and "bad" news, albeit often in a grotesque way

Electric power industry: Complete collapse of the system

The source of "Vremena" says that not enough good lignite is sent to TENT and that is why it has already happened that the mixture of lignite with tailings is burned with the help of fuel oil: "They tried that this time as well, but now they were not lucky."
