The Ukrainian delegation at the talks in London, in which, in addition to the host, Ukraine representatives of France, Germany and the United States also participate, has a mandate to negotiate a full or partial ceasefire, the president of Ukraine said Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky confirmed this at a press briefing on Tuesday.
"As for our team, tomorrow (Wednesday, April 23) they will have the mandate they need - namely, to discuss an unconditional or partial ceasefire. We are ready for this stage. We are also ready to make it clear that when a ceasefire is established, we are ready to sit down (for further talks) in any format," the Ukrinform agency quoted Zelenskiy as saying.
Zelensky expressed the hope that Russia is also ready for dialogue.
"We will believe that there is at least some progress if Russia is really ready - although it is clear that it does not want to - to take real steps towards results," Zelensky said.
At the same time, he reiterated that Ukraine will never recognize Russian control over the occupied territories.
"Ukraine does not recognize and will not recognize the occupation of Crimea. There is nothing to talk about. It is beyond the limits of our Constitution. It is our land, the land of the Ukrainian people," Zelensky emphasized.
High-level talks will be held on Wednesday in London with representatives of the foreign ministries of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Ukraine.
The meeting is a continuation of the negotiations held last week in Paris with the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrinform reminds.
