Germany's Christian Democrats, the largest opposition bloc, adopted a joint program for the European Parliament elections on June 9. The emphasis is on the massive arming of the European Union, reports the DPA agency.
The program was unanimously approved on Monday in Berlin by the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU), and the meeting was attended by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen).
The European Union needs aircraft carriers and its own anti-missile shield, the two parties announced. The situation in Europe has changed radically in recent years, especially since Russia attacked Ukraine, the program states.
