Endru Mauntbaten-Vindzor, former British prince and brother of King Charles III he was arrested on suspicion of abuse of public office, according to the British media.
Police searched addresses in Norfolk and Bershire, where they detained the suspect in the presence of several patrol vehicles.
The arrest came as part of an investigation based on the latest information released from the files of Jeffrey Epstein, an American financier and convicted sex offender. The information suggests that Andrew allegedly shared classified reports and information with Epstein during his service as Britain's trade envoy, raising suspicions of potential abuse of office.
Andrew has previously been involved in scandals related to Epstein, including sexual assault claims, which were settled out of court in 2022 without admitting guilt. In October 2025, he lost a number of royal titles and was removed from official royal duties after years of controversy.
British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said in the context of the investigation that "no one is above the law", indicating an intensification of legal scrutiny of the current allegations and further proceedings concerning Andrew and links to the Epstein files.
Police and investigative authorities stress that the process is ongoing and that additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.
