Trump: Israel and Hamas have agreed on the first phase of the Gaza peace plan

American president Donald tramp announced that Israel and Hamas agreed on the "first phase" of his peace plan to stop fighting in the Gaza Strip and release hostages and prisoners.

"This means that ALL hostages will be released very soon and Israel will withdraw its troops to the agreed line as the first steps towards a strong, lasting and eternal peace," Trump wrote on social media.

In the coming days, Hamas will release all 20 live hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, while the Israeli army will begin withdrawing from most of Gaza, AP reports.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on social media: "With God's help, we will bring them all home."

Separately, Hamas said the agreement would ensure the withdrawal of Israeli troops, as well as allow the entry of aid and the exchange of hostages and prisoners, according to the agency.
