Israeli the police declared the former adviser to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Yisrael Srulik Einhorn, a suspect in the Katargate case, as a fugitive criminal, the Israeli newspaper "Times of Israel" reports.
"Einhorn is a suspect in this affair and is under investigation for the offense of disclosing classified information, and an arrest warrant has been issued against him. Despite this, the person in question has avoided returning to Israel and the criminal is on the run," the police said.
Einhorn, along with Yonatan Urich and former Netanyahu spokesman Eli Feldstein, is accused of taking money to run a public relations campaign meant to portray Qatar in a positive light — more than a year after Hamas's October 7, 2023 terrorist attack on Israel, despite the Gulf state's strong ties to Hamas.
The three accused at the time worked in Prime Minister Netanyahu's office, according to the "Times of Israel".
According to the Balkan Research Network of Serbia (BIRN), Einhorn, who is also known to the Serbian public as a former adviser to President Aleksandar Vučić, was questioned by two Israeli investigators in connection with "Catargate" at the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade last July. Serbia allegedly requested that the details of the interrogation remain secret.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz also reported that Einhorn was accused of pressuring the witness Shlomo Filber. Namely, his company in Serbia — according to Haaretz — earned about 2,3 million dollars for services on the foreign market in the period from April to December 2024, while Einhorn had emigrated to Serbia.
