President of the United States of America Donald tramp made the decision to withdraw the USA from 66 international organizations, including participation in two Hague tribunals and in the Venice Commission, the statement of the White House stated.
The US is leaving the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.
Based in The Hague, this structure deals with the prosecution of international crimes committed in the former Yugoslavia during the Balkan wars, as well as the genocide in Rwanda, after the main tribunals investigating these crimes were disbanded.
Abandonment of the Venice Commission
Trump also ordered the US to withdraw from the Venice Commission in a memorandum.
Officially known as the European Commission for Democracy through Law, the body operates under the auspices of the Council of Europe, but is open to non-European countries, with the US having full membership.
The Venice Commission issues expert opinions on legislation concerning the rule of law, constitutional justice and human rights.
The memorandum orders all US executive departments and agencies to cease participation in and funding of 35 non-United Nations (UN) organizations, as well as 31 UN entities "acting contrary to US national interests, security, economic prosperity, or sovereignty."
"These withdrawals will end US taxpayer funding and participation in entities that promote globalist agendas over US priorities or that address important issues ineffectively or ineffectively, so US taxpayer dollars are best deployed in other ways to support relevant missions," the statement said.
Undermining America's independence
It added that "President Trump is ending US participation in international organizations that undermine American independence and waste taxpayer money on ineffective or hostile agendas."
"Many of these bodies promote radical climate policies, global governance and ideological agendas that run counter to the sovereignty and economic power of the US. American taxpayers have spent billions on these low-profit organizations, while they often criticize US policy, promote agendas contrary to our values, or waste taxpayers' money claiming to be dealing with important issues but achieving no real results," the statement said.
The White House states that "by exiting these organizations, President Trump is saving taxpayer money and redirecting resources to 'America First' priorities."
