United States they decided to temporarily suspend military aid Ukraine, a few days after a sharp discussion between the presidents of the USA and Ukraine, Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, at the White House, a White House official confirmed on Monday, March 3.
"The president was clear that he is focused on peace." It is necessary that our partners are also committed to that goal. We are temporarily suspending and reviewing our aid to ensure that it contributes to the solution," a senior administration official told VOA.
Reuters reported, citing a Bloomberg report, that the shipment of all US military equipment, including weapons in transit on planes or ships or located in transit areas in Poland, will be suspended.
Trump previously told reporters at the White House that there was no discussion about suspending military aid to Ukraine, but added that Zelensky "should appreciate" Washington's support more. America has so far allocated billions of dollars in military aid to Kiev.
Also on Monday, on his "Truth social" network, the American president again harshly criticized Zelensky for his statement on Sunday evening that the agreement on the end of the war with Russia "is still very far away".
"America will not tolerate this much longer"
Trump assessed that it was the "worst statement" and that "America will not tolerate it much longer." He also repeated that Zelenski does not want peace "as long as he has American support."
"At the meeting with Zelensky, Europe openly said that they cannot do the job without the USA," Trump wrote.
On Monday, Zelensky wrote on the X social network that Ukraine must engage in "substantive" diplomacy in order to end the war quickly.
"We are working with America and our European partners and we very much hope for American support on the way to peace." Peace is needed as soon as possible," Zelenski said.
Let's recall that Zelensky left the White House on February 28 without signing the agreement that was supposed to provide American access to rare minerals and natural resources of Ukraine, as planned. After that debacle, US officials called on Zelensky to apologize.
"What we need to hear from President Zelenskiy is that he regrets what happened, that he's ready to sign this mineral deal and that he's ready to engage in peace talks," White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz told Fox News on March 3.
Zelensky "should be more grateful, because this country stood by them at all times," Trump told reporters at the White House later that day. When asked if the minerals deal was dead, Trump replied: "No, I don't think so."
