Confirmation of the attack came after explosions interrupted a live broadcast hosted by presenter Sahar Imami.

"Before the attack, the IDF warned the civilian population in advance and carried out the attack in a precise manner in order to avoid civilian casualties as much as possible," the statement added.
Earlier on Monday, the IDF ordered the evacuation of Tehran's 3rd district, which houses the Islamic Republic of Iran's broadcasting offices. IRINN is part of that institution (IRIB).
In a Farsi-language post on NetX, the IDF said it would take action in the district in the coming hours to attack the Iranian regime's military infrastructure. Both Iran and Israel have urged citizens of the other side to evacuate from areas near important military sites for their own safety.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that the army attacked the studio of Iranian state television.
"The propaganda and incitement broadcasting service of the Iranian regime was attacked by the IDF after a mass evacuation of the surrounding area. We will hit the Iranian dictator wherever he is," Katz wrote on the X network.
A spokesman for Iran's foreign minister condemned the Israeli attack on the building of Iran's state television and called on the international community to demand justice for the attack on the media.
"The world is watching: the targeting of the office of the Iranian news agency #IRINN during a live broadcast is a criminal act and a war crime," Esmail Bakei wrote on the X network.
Netanyahu: Eliminating Ayatollah Khamenei would end the conflict
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not rule out the possibility of Israel targeting Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
When an "ABC News" reporter asked him if they intended to do that, Netanyahu replied:
"Look, we're doing what we have to do."
He insisted that potentially eliminating the supreme leader would "end the conflict" and not escalate it.
"'Eternal war' is what Iran wants and they are bringing us to the brink of a nuclear conflict. In fact, what Israel is doing is preventing that, ending this aggression," Netanyahu said.
Trump refuses to support calls to defuse the conflict
On Monday, G7 leaders prepared a draft of a joint statement calling for a de-escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran, according to two sources and a draft seen by Reuters.
The document emphasizes the importance of preserving market stability, including energy markets, but also confirms that Israel has the right to self-defense.
However, US President Donald Trump does not intend to sign the G7 statement regarding the conflict between Israel and Iran, CBS News reported on Monday, citing unnamed US officials.
