Whether he's using the military against protesters in Los Angeles or ignoring clear orders from federal judges, President Donald Trump is shaking the democratic foundations of the United States
In his first weekly address, Pope Leo XIV sent a message to world leaders: "Stop the wars." The new pope said that he carries in his heart the suffering of civilians in Ukraine and Gaza, but also expressed hope for lasting peace between India and Pakistan.
Pope Chapter XIV on Sunday (May 11), after his first weekly prayer as pope, called on world leaders to stop wars, primarily in Ukraine and in the belt Gauze.
"I carry in my heart the sufferings of the beloved Ukrainian people. Everything should be done to achieve an authentic, just and lasting peace as soon as possible," the Pope said, according to FoNet.
He also called for the release of all prisoners, as well as the return of children to their families.
Pointing out that he is deeply saddened by what is happening in the Gaza Strip, the Pope called for an immediate end to hostilities, for humanitarian aid to be delivered to the exhausted civilian population and for all hostages to be released.
Leo XIV added that he welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan and hoped that a permanent agreement would be reached soon.

Pope Leo was elected as the new head of the Catholic Church on Thursday, following a two-day conclave at the Vatican and the death of his predecessor, Pope Francis.
On Saturday, he visited a shrine outside Rome, and then prayed in front of Francis' tomb in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
Pope Leo will be officially inaugurated at a Mass in St. Peter's Square next Sunday, May 18.
This has been an extremely active week for the new pope - on Friday he celebrated his first mass as pope in the Sistine Chapel, and on Saturday he addressed the cardinals. During that meeting, he described himself as "unworthy" and promised to preserve the "precious legacy" of his predecessor.
He emphasized the importance of missionary work and dialogue, as well as concern for those he called "the least and rejected".
He explained that he chose the name Leo after a 19th-century pope known for his teachings on social justice.
The new pope also emphasized that the development of artificial intelligence and other modern technologies further emphasizes the need for the church as a protector of human dignity and justice.
Who is the new pope?
Pope Leo XIV, who is 69, is the 267th in line to the throne of St. Peter and the first American to become pope. He will lead the global community of the Catholic Church, which numbers 1,4 billion believers.
Born Robert Francis Prevost in Chicago, worked for years as a missionary in Peru, where he later became an archbishop. He also has Peruvian citizenship.
Although Leo XIV was born in the US, the Vatican describes him as the second pope from the Americas — the first being Pope Francis from Argentina.
Pope Leo is widely seen as a moderate leader who can offer "continuity" and "unity" following the death of the previous pope last month.
He is believed to share Pope Francis' views on migrants, the poor and environmental protection.

According to Professor Noah Feldman, a professor of law at Harvard, the short-term goal of the new American president is to be in the center of media attention as someone who opposes "Harvard liberals", and to intimidate all those in higher education who do not agree with his policies. The longer-term goal is related to his broader attack on democratic values and institutions. The more he is able to weaken independent institutions, the more dominant his political agenda becomes
