Switzerland on Friday, in the presence of officials from other European countries, paid tribute to the victims of the New Year's fire in a bar in Martinhi with a commemorative meeting Crans-Montana, and one of the owners of that club was detained after hearing at the prosecutor's office, reports Reuters.
Church bells in Switzerland, where it is a day of mourning, rang out at the beginning of the commemoration at 14 p.m., when a minute of silence was held throughout the country for the 40 victims of the fire in New Year's Eve, in which 116 people were injured.
The prosecutor's office questioned the French owners of the "Le Constellation" bar on Friday, and Jacques Moretti was detained on suspicion that he might escape, "24 Heures" newspaper reported.
Jacques Moretti and his wife Jessica did not want to answer questions from journalists when they arrived at the prosecutor's office in the city of Sion, and they are suspected of several crimes, including manslaughter.
Swiss leaders were joined at the commemoration in Martinhi by the presidents of Italy and France Sergio Mattarella and Emmanuel Macron, as well as officials from other countries where the victims of the fire are from.
Among the dead is Serbian citizen Stefan Ivanović (31), who lived in Switzerland for more than 20 years, and on New Year's Eve was working as a security guard at a club in Crans-Montana.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia was also supposed to travel to the commemoration Marko Djuric, but canceled the trip due to bad weather conditions.
Đurić sent his last greetings to the victims in a message on the X network fire and expressed solidarity with their families, the Swiss people and all those affected by the accident.
Due to the death of Ivanović, a day of mourning has been declared in Ljig for tomorrow, since he is from the village of Jajčići.
