Two days after terrorist attack in Moscow, during which at least 137 people were killed, four suspects were brought before a court in the Basmani district of the Russian capital. The Russian news agency Tass states that they have been formally charged with a terrorist attack and face life imprisonment.
All four were sentenced to two months' detention in pre-trial detention, the competent court announced on the Telegram platform.
Injured suspect
A large security force was deployed around the court in Basmani district on Sunday. One of the suspects was brought into the courtroom by the police with a bandage over his eyes. Reuters reports that injuries were visible on the suspect's face when the bandage was removed.
The second accused had a bandage on his head, the third was brought in in the presence of a doctor in a wheelchair.
According to Russian media, the arrest was preceded by a pursuit of the suspects, which ended in gunfire. They allegedly tried to move to Ukraine.
Three of the four suspects have already pleaded guilty. It could be seen on social networks that they were interrogated immediately after being detained in the open.
Daleryon Mirzoyev, the suspect in the attack on Crocus City Hall, has fully admitted his guilt, the press service of the Moscow City Court told RIA Novosti.
"Mirzoyev, as part of an armed organized group, participated in the shooting of the citizens of the Russian Federation who were in the 'Crocus City Hall', after which he set fire to the building. The accused fully admitted his guilt," said the interlocutor of the agency and added that this was stated in the court's decision to order Mirzoyev's detention.
Eleven suspects were arrested
The Russian government has announced that 11 suspects have been detained so far for the terrorist attack in Moscow. None of them are citizens of Russia.
On Friday evening, masked attackers broke into the Crocus City Hall concert hall, which holds over 6000 people, and opened fire with automatic weapons. They systematically shot everyone they came across without choosing their victims. A fire soon broke out. Not long after the attack, the extremist organization Islamic State took the blame.
The Kremlin has expressed doubt that ISIS is really behind the attack, Russian officials recognize Ukraine's connection to the terrorist attack. Kiev rejected it decisively.
