In a post on the X network, the Iranian minister, as reported by the BBC, stated: "In accordance with the cease-fire in Lebanon, passage for all commercial ships through Strait of Hormuz has been declared fully open for the remainder of the ceasefire period, along the coordinated route as already announced by the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
United States announced earlier this week that they would begin a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, after Iran effectively shut down the world's busiest oil waterway for weeks in response to the US-Israeli attack on Iran in February.
A two-week truce between Iran and the US is set to expire on April 22.
US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social:
"Iran has just announced that the Iran Strait is fully open and ready for full passage. Thank you!"
