Former frontman of the group Hladno pivo Mile Kekin He was arrested in action. Croatian The Office for Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime and the Police, writes the Index portal.
In addition to Kekin, several other people were arrested, and they are suspected of having participated in fraud related to real estate, specifically in the Municipality of Buje and in connection with the house of Mile Kekin, writes the Croatian portal 24 sata.
Kekin was supposed to perform in Belgrade at the Zappa base on Saturday.
"Jutarnji list" announced that the police, on the order of USKOK, started a new action in Istria.
In the center of attention of the investigators is Jelena Perossa, until recently the head of the Department for Spatial Planning and Management of City Property in Buje.
The police knocked on her door this morning, and the business of her husband Damir in the center of Buje was also searched.
In addition to the Perossa couple, the mayor of Buja, Fabrizio Vižintin, as well as several other persons, are allegedly under investigation, due to suspicion of numerous abuses.
Allegedly, it is about embezzlement with city land, and one of the suspicious deals is related to land in the Istrian town of Momjan, which is owned by the Kekin couple.
Earlier criticism of Kekin's wife
Ivana Kekin, a member of the Croatian Parliament, found herself in the center of public attention before the presidential elections, in which she was a candidate, because of the luxurious villa in the Istrian town of Momjan, which she owns together with her husband, Milet Kekin.
The villa is called "Volare e Cantare", has 130 square meters, a heated swimming pool, and is rented to tourists at a price of 300 to 500 euros per night, depending on the season. In the property map, it is stated that the villa, together with the land of 412 square meters, is worth 400.000 euros.
However, doubts were caused by the fact that the land was purchased in 2018 from the City of Buje for only HRK 25.000 (about EUR 3.300), although the market price of land in that area is significantly higher. Ivana Kekin answered the journalists' questions that they earned everything through their work - she as a doctor of science, and Mile as a "rock star who filled arenas with 25.000 people". She added that the villa is their family home, which is occasionally rented out, and that everything is duly registered in the property register.
Some criticized her for hypocrisy, because she previously publicly criticized mass tourism and excessive water consumption in Istria, while at the same time renting a villa with a swimming pool. Kekin replied that it was a house for four people, and that her criticism referred to unsustainable tourist development, not individual cases.
Outspoken critic of the right
In an article he wrote for "Vreme", music journalist Petar Janjatović assessed that Hladno pivo, even in Tuđman's time, "was able to show that it was made up of fucked up faces".
"In the song 'We all loved him' in 1999, they compared Tito and Tuđman, and for the latter they sang 'we are almost fooled by a cheap imitation'. Their singer Mile Kekin opposed the Croatian (and every other) right wing with the song 'Ja nisam vas'. It was not for nothing that they grew up on KUD Idiots. And when in the summer of 2018, on the initiative of Croatian war veterans, Bajagi was banned from performing in In Karlovac, the organizers invited Hladno pivo as a substitute, but they "blew them away" as a result of Bayaga's guest appearance on Mileto Kekin's solo disc:
"When everything is a tent, quasi, like a fool / like some big reality show / where the scum wears badges and everything is upside down / and the holy things are lies". , Janjatović wrote earlier.
Speaking about the friction between the Croatian and Serbian political leadership, Kekin pointed out in an interview for "Vreme" in 2022 that in Croatia, the president of the state and the government have been treated with epithets that are not heard "even in the worst pubs".
"So these Croatian-Serbian skirmishes are pure onions and water. I don't follow anymore, I already googled a bit, I must admit. As far as I can see, both of them use past wars to inflame the lowest passions of the impoverished people in order to ensure they stay in power. They know that when the heroic heart beats rapidly, the brain of the Balkans switches to standby mode," said Kekin.
