In front of the American embassy in Oslo echoed early this morning explosion, which caused minor damage to the building, Norwegian police said.
It was stated that the explosion occurred at the entrance to the consular department of the embassy.
According to the first information, there were no injuries, but minor material damage was caused to the embassy building.
The detonation was heard around 1 a.m. local time, in the western part of Oslo, near the entrance to the consular part of the embassy. Eyewitnesses reported thick smoke rising from the area immediately after the explosion.
Norwegian police quickly blocked off the wider area around the embassy and launched a major investigation. Police dogs, drones and a helicopter have been deployed on the ground, while forensic experts are examining the site of the explosion in search of traces or possible additional devices.
