Right-wing activist Charlie Kirk (31) was shot in the neck while giving a speech at a university in Provo, Utah. He was considered an ardent supporter of US President Donald Trump. He played a crucial role in gaining the support of young voters for his re-election

At the university in Provo, Utah, right-wing activist Charlie Kirk sat under a tent with a microphone in hand. The meeting was well attended. Those present reacted enthusiastically to his words.

At one point he staggered and put his hand on his neck. A red stain was visible. It was clear that he had been hit by a bullet in the neck area. There was a general panic. The lawn, which was filled with people a moment before, was emptied very quickly.

Not long after on his social network Social Truth US President Donald Trump announced that Charlie Kirk had succumbed to his injuries and called on everyone to pray for him.

He left behind a widow and two small children.

A close associate of Donald Trump

According to CNN, Kirk was close to the Trump family. Only 31 years old, he had a kind of rock star status in the conservative MAGA movement. He went around colleges recruiting students to support Trump in his bid to "Make America Great Again." He was shot at one such event.

The FBI announced immediately after the assassination that an extensive investigation had been launched. There is hardly any information about the possible perpetrator. A representative of Utah Valley University, where the event was held, told the New York Times that shots were fired from a building about 180 meters from where Kirk was sitting.

If this is true, it is clear that he was a good and experienced shooter. It couldn't have been a "lucky hit".

Despite numerous cameras on the campus, the killer was not even identified ten hours after the assassination. No weapon was found at the crime scene. The manhunt involving the police and all security agencies continues.

The Democratic governor of California, Gavin Newsom, strongly condemned the assassination of Kirk. "The attack on Charlie Kirk is abhorrent and reprehensible," he wrote on Platform X, and that all forms of violence must be rejected in the United States of America.

A very successful Trump agitator

Kirk was born in the suburbs of Chicago. At the age of 18, he founded a conservative movement in 2012 Turning Point USA. In the presidential elections in November 2024, he played a key role in ensuring Trump the support of young voters. The events he organized at universities across America were usually very well attended. He targeted potential young voters on social networks.

And all that very successfully. In the meantime, the 79-year-old Trump has grown by six percentage points in the 2020-18 age group, more than in any other group, compared to the 29 presidential election. His comrades say that he was always smiling, so they called him a "happy warrior" for the Trump cause.

Some American portals write that Kirk faithfully and enthusiastically spread numerous Trump lies and conspiracy theories, such as the alleged "election fraud" when he was defeated in the presidential elections, or the attack on the Capitol. Charlie Kirk was an ardent opponent of abortion.

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, is euphoric, with his hand outstretched

Overview of the week

Vučić, protector of injustice

Aleksandar Vučić is carrying out an unannounced coup d'état. It's for nothing. He has no defense against the demand for justice. Because how can he look into the eyes of a mother who is on hunger strike, calm the people on the streets and silence the schoolchildren who are shouting on the excursion - "Pump!"
