After the suspension of work on September 16, the Ministry of Education sent a letter to school principals requesting precise data on the number of teachers who suspended work, as well as the fact that school principals are not allowed to inform parents and students about this, and that in that situation the principals are concerned for the safety of children
Aleksandar Makov from the Forum of Belgrade High Schools tells "Vreme" that if a common language is not found with the Government, radicalization of the protest is also possible.
If the Government does not fully fulfill the previously signed protocol, the educators will announce a protest throughout Serbia on September 16. The President of the Belgrade School Union, Snežana Romandić Petrović, confirms to "Vreme" that the announced strike is illegal, but that the teachers have nothing left to lose.
The struggle to fulfill the requirements for amending the Criminal Code and increasing the salaries of educators is yet to come. At this moment, before negotiations with the Government on August 30, it is too early to talk about possible further protests. If there is a need for them, let's hope that the scenario of shortening classes at the beginning of each school year, seen so many times, is no longer the only way out. In any case, although they are not completely formulated in the same way, the union's demands are certainly not contradictory because they concern the same problems, security and financial, of all educational workers.
The agreement is to submit a draft document of the Government of Serbia to the representative trade unions in education as soon as possible, which would determine the dynamics of the fulfillment of the requirements
