MP, head of the progressive parliamentary group in the National Assembly and member of the SNS Presidency Milenko Jovanov is crystal clear: unlike the 30.000 dead in the recent riots in Iran, no one was killed during the protests in Serbia thanks to President Vučić. He also says that if anyone else from the party was leading the country, he would at some point lose his calm, rationality and make a certain move that would lead to escalation. What does this statement say?
The first is that the students and the rebellious society owe their lives to Vučić. He gave them roads, universities, workplaces and Belgrade on the water, and he could have killed them.
Second, the progressives are apparently considering the possibility that their paramilitary formations and the police shoot at the "blockades" and thus clear them from the streets.
Third - if Vučić is calm and rational, what are the others in his environment like? It's scary to even think about it. Indeed, is that nation happy that does not mourn daughters, sons and other family members thanks to the mood of the head of state...
SUPPRESSING THE PEASANT REBELLION 26 ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL
Jovanov's statement is not just an outburst of half-heartedness of the progressive baron of pagan language. On the contrary, it is a higher truth. And that is that the regime reduced its policy to repression so much that the Kanda almost did not start killing yet. Everything else is there: secret service factions gone wild, police brutality normalized, gangs let off the hook, the judiciary on ventilators... How the violent strategy of the progressive government works has just been shown by the current peasant revolt.
Elem, after pointing out the unsustainable position of their farms for years, the farmers started blocking the roads about twenty days ago. This is not their first, but it is the most massive, organized and persistent protest. Like the students at the beginning, the government did not farm them even for prunes, otherwise an agricultural product.
However, since the tractor blockades covered a large part of the country, the regime had to do something, so the "Manual for the struggle with the colored revolution" was opened, page six, subheading - "Preparation of the terrain". In accordance with those instructions, the spring pasting of labels began: peasants wear Rolexes, spend incentives in pubs, 'fathers' make bread without a hoe even though Vučić gives them the biggest subsidies in this part of the Solar System, they extort passengers at roadblocks...
After the farmers were insulted on dog carts, the regime switched to page seven, subheading - "Dialogue as a play". What is left for the tortured peasants in this situation? In order not to appear unconstructive, they accepted a conversation with Minister Dragan Glamočić. He has already memorized the text on page eight under the subheading - "Playing and Cheating". In short, everything that was the topic of that meeting was twisted, misrepresented, meaningless and further humiliated by Glamočić.
Revolted and deceived for the umpteenth time, the peasants - so that the government would at least hear them - blocked two border crossings, near Loznica and Bogatić. Holding a manual with a sticker on page nine - subheading "Kidney Rejection" - Vučić, together with the entire government, joyfully exclaimed - "We've been waiting for you here". Said, done: heavily armored police poured into Loznica and Bogatić and started beating and arresting the hosts...
Of course, the Peasants' Uprising did not end with this, but it showed that all citizens can get from the Vučić regime is pure repression.
A UNIVERSAL SAVIOR FOR EVERY HOME
Jovanov did not just compare 30.000 dead in Iran with zero killed in Serbia. He was probably inspired by watching the US-Israeli attack on Iran (see text on page 8).
But while the whole world fears the turn of events, progressive spin doctors see an opportunity. That is, an attempt to gather part of the citizens around a man whose cult of personality has reached caricature proportions. The recipe is from the era of the corona pandemic and the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Then the president of Serbia bragged about how he stole ventilators, thanked brothers Xi and Putin for the vaccine, took pictures with frozen peas, canned sardines, flour... He didn't hate any kind of fooling around, including pointing out that he punched more guys than all the leaders of the fans' pits combined.
Now the progressives have thrown out the slogan "Peace, stability, Vučić", as if Serbia is not in the deepest political crisis in recent history and on the very edge of the collapse of the constitutional and legal order. Their goal is to convince the people that thanks to the tour of Macron's chambers, Vučić has become such an international mastermind that he can save the country from all global temptations. And - it will - prosper even more. What more can be said than a universal savior in every house, something like a liquid for all sanitation.
In the collected works of Vučić's campaigns without coverage, this one is at the very top. The purchase of "bursts" and various weapons and the alleged ban on the export of weapons in terms of deterring a potential enemy mean nothing under the name of God. If major powers set their sights on Serbia, there will be no help for it. Venezuela yesterday and Iran today, had incomparably more sophisticated weapons and stronger armies than here, but to no avail.
Things are no better in the region either. With the exception of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, which are NATO protectorates, all other neighbors are within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Therefore, potential conflicts in the territory of the former Yugoslavia cannot remain at the local level. On the contrary...
Vučić's painting with ancient or military equipment collected from all four corners of the world has an exclusively propaganda function. All those tanks and planes don't impress anyone except Jovanov and the most hard-line progressive electorate anyway. Dangers for lonely and poor countries like Serbia - history teaches - are basically never military but political. Without the support of real allies, with the obligations that go with it, there is no real peace and stability. Namely, countries that float from one great power to another can always be rewarded if they find themselves on the path of some kind of world bully or, simply, as collateral damage. If Denmark were not in the European Union and NATO, Greenland would have been Trump's real estate long ago.
The self-proclaimed neutrality of Serbia is not worth as much as a left boot in a discount military shop. The only real opportunity for Serbia to ensure peace and stability is joining the European Union. But - Pampur. As noted by Zdravko Ponoš, president of the Srbija Center party, Vučić has given up on the European path. Access to the European Union market and Schengen is enough for him now, he would still play matches, fight, crawl under a rock and pull out from under it, saying one thing abroad and another at home. There is a good reason. Repression as the only policy for the survival of the progressive regime is incompatible with European values. In that name, the regime does not care about peace or stability. Only Vucic is important.
DEMON RELEASED FROM THE BOTTLE
At the beginning of the protest, the President of Serbia threatened that his bodyguards from "Cobra" would disperse the students in five or six seconds. Police violence started in the early spring of last year and has never stopped. In this context, Jovanov's statement that the regime did not open fire on peaceful protesters releases the most dangerous demon from the bottle. Because what if Vučić gets up on his left foot and loses his composure and rationality in an instant? Will it then really be possible to compare Belgrade and Tehran, Novi Sad and Isfakan?
In the end - to avoid confusion. The peace and stability of Serbia, both internally and externally, can only be achieved in one way. And that is the electoral defeat of the Vučić regime.
