Remembering 2024: Marigold - A Light Burns in Every Heart (Geenger Records)
Neven group is from Belgrade hardcore a band born in 2021, brutally honest, unequivocally clear, devoted to its authentic poetics. Their latest release is one of the best of 2024.
I will not be pleased
I want to learn to give unconditionally
That what I say opens someone's heart
To give what I say, not to win
That's love
(marigold, To give what I know)
Entertained by the great world stars, the absolute dominance of female authors, performers and producers on the global charts, and by the political obscenity and our consequent hypnotism by the dark darkness that never ceases to loom over this country and the Earth in Van Gogh's maelstroms, we almost forgot about the domestic giants of the latest generation . Yes, Charli XCX, Beyoncé, Beth Gibbons, Adrianne Lenker are good, and then English Teacher, The Smile and Chat Pile. But, Neven, brother - absolutely rips in this generational society. Their latest release is one of the best of 2024, no matter where it came from!

Neven group is from Belgrade hardcore a band that was created in 2021, brutally honest, unequivocally clear, devoted to its authentic poetics, incorruptible through and through, thoroughly spiritual, immune to ideologies and consciously determined to think and create good. If you think they're too loud, direct, and themselves - well, I guess that's just a decoration on their youthful uniform.
Whereby, under uniforms we mean that recipe for staying positive, which the frontman of the band Neven Miloš Stevanović gave in his time: Music, Gratitude, Friendship, Service, Love. Well, who wouldn't be a soldier in such an army?!
Furious Neven already stunned us with their mini-album "Demo" from 2022, the same year when Chat Pile excelled with their first studio album "God's Country". Perhaps there is no essential connection between Neven and Chat Pile - but, nevertheless, both of them, the boys are absolutely ready to enter into a clash with every demon of this universe. And, in fact, as completely autochthonous phenomena, both Chat Pile and Neven do not belong to any particular scene. Except for the one - alone against accumulated evil and hopelessness.
Little things don't make me happy
What happiness is seems to be eternal
I want to strive for something bigger
I'm not going to let the line of least resistance tell me
How fleeting pleasure and vice are gain
(marigold, Little things)
Last year's May EP "Lights Burn In Every Heart"… what can I say. Let's stop before this title itself. When have you recently heard such a noble statement? The writer of these lines is definitely not. So much faith, trust, strength to hope for the best in homo sapiens - we haven't experienced it in a long time. And only when this series of songs spins!
It's the little things that make happiness (not), the feeling that you're not alone and staying positive despite everything, right? To give everything you know and to keep the will to be the one who loves in every reincarnation, no other way. Well, the Neven group has declared a peaceful crusade against hypocrisy and fraud since its inception. But if you expect aggression, destruction and hatred, then - as John Lennon said in his "Revolution" back then - don't count on them.
I walk and fall
So I get up again
It is a learning process
I don't want to give up
(marigold, I remain positive)
You certainly won't touch frivolous fun with Neven's latest release, just like with the previous one, but you'll want to expose yourself to blazing guitars, merciless drumbeats and a voice you absolutely have to believe. On this mini-album, Marigolds restore hope that music can still excite you, make you think and move you to do good. If you have nothing to lose - and that is, realistically, the general state of affairs for each of us - the Neven group will bring you back to the track of cosmic normality. Even if you are distant from spirituality of any kind, you can indulge in it without any hesitation.
The group Neven recently performed in the current line-up: Miloš, Relja, Pedro and Tim.
In every corner of the world, a gem really shines.

At an extraordinary session of the parliament, a law was adopted approving a loan of 1,9 billion euros for the purchase of Rafale aircraft. The opposition is against, but the amendments did not pass
Zorica Slavković Marjanović, one of the suspects in the canopies case, has had her custody terminated and a measure prohibiting her from leaving the apartment with electronic surveillance
The beginning of the third day of the extraordinary session of the Assembly was marked by the discussion on the Law on Alimony Fund, and mutual accusations were made. There was also talk of a tent settlement in Pionirski Park, better known as Ćaciland
In the third address to the public, the President sat on the terrace, which he likes the most, because he is above the people, and on the terrace, it was as if he had won a gold medal at the Olympics.
Vučić's regime is really heading towards its inevitable end. The damage he has done in almost all spheres of society is great and difficult to repair. And it will be greater the more the final departure is delayed and prolonged. Exactly what that end will be like and what it will look like, no one can predict with certainty. But it can be said with a lot of certainty that, if this "our" opposition party, i.e. the anti-regime side managed to get rid of some of its pains, that departure must have been faster and more certain. What kind of ailments are we talking about?
The dramatic appeal of United Media employees shows what can happen when the media is controlled by the regime and corporations. It is happening in Serbia now. If the audience does not recognize this, an even blacker media darkness threatens
Aleksandar Vučić now has only the old, proven methods of classic dictatorships left, because these modern methods of insanity and poisoning the public are failing. And that, however, goes against his head
Vučić is not defending the state, but himself from the state. With a drum on his back and a guitar in his hands, this man-orchestra performs two or three of the same songs without hearing, with falsifications and falling out of rhythm. His government and politics are like that. In short - dangerous for the environment
