Campaigns carefully chose which podcasts candidates would go on, taking care to reach critical voters, young women (Harris), young men (Trump), minorities (both). In the absence of their own content, newspapers and television retell podcasts and indicate what was said most interestingly, trying to put it in some context in order to justify their existence. It is already being loudly talked about that in the next campaign in four years, if this trend continues, there will be nothing but podcasts, no interviews and no debate, which has barely been held even now. Choices will be made on YouTube and Instagram.
Despite this, 80 percent of marketing money is still spent on television advertising. This does not mean that social media is lacking, on the contrary. Other income also reaches them, from various parts of the world, and that is very undesirable. It has been revealed that several countries are competing to spin fake news served to voters through social media. This is most often done by opening a large number of fake accounts that, by liking, insert a certain news into the trend, very often fake or suspicious, and then disappear. Even when such phenomena are pointed out to the voters, somewhere in their subconscious remains an image generated by artificial intelligence or a statement that the candidate did not make anywhere, but the AI puts in his or her mouth using his or her voice. Artificial intelligence is another big event of these elections, mostly because of the possibility of manipulation and subterfuge.
If you thought there were too many podcasts today, you're wrong, that's the message from this election campaign. Any podcast that has won an audience, preferably for a niche, can count on a guest appearance by a politician competing in the elections. The benefit is mutual. The politician gets a pulpit and the podcaster gets legitimacy. Journalists will be ready to cover the event, without asking too many questions.
