Global support for world leaders is declining, according to a Gallup International survey conducted in 57 countries and territories, including Serbia, in which the most popular world leader is the president of Russia Vladimir Putin.
Pope Leo XIV is the only one with a positive score of 24 percent, which maintains the predominance of positive over negative opinion, but is lower than the previous Pope Francis (+28 percent from 2019).
Other leaders have negative ratings: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu -42 percent, Russian President Vladimir Putin -41 percent, US President Donald Trump -31 percent, Chinese President Xi Jinping -23 percent and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi -12 percent.
Donald Trump has 30 percent approval globally, second only to the Pope (49 percent), but a net score of -31 percent. It is seen negatively by women, older than 55, non-religious, pensioners and residents of rich countries. He has the highest support in Azerbaijan (40 percent), Kenya (34 percent), Georgia (33 percent), Syria (31 percent), Kosovo (27 percent), and the lowest support in Iran (-88 percent), Denmark (-84), Sweden (-80), Norway (-79), Switzerland (-78 percent).
A world without favorites
Vladimir Putin has 25 percent approval, a net score of -41 percent, which is a drop from the -12 percent he had before the war in Ukraine. It is viewed negatively by those over 55, pensioners, non-religious people and residents of rich countries. The highest support is in Serbia (37 percent), India (30 percent), Azerbaijan (19 percent), Pakistan (15 percent), Malaysia (12 percent), and the lowest in Ukraine (-98 percent), Denmark (-94), Sweden (-94), Norway (-90), Estonia (-88 percent).
In Serbia, after Putin, Xi Jinping has the most support - 22 percent, followed by Modi with 6 percent. Unfavorable ratings have Netanyahu -50 percent, Trump -44 percent, the Pope -19 percent. The Pope has a lower rating only in Iraq (-24 percent) and Turkey (-31 percent).
In Serbia, the results were based on a sample of 1.020 respondents, using the face-to-face method, conducted in November 2025. The research was carried out by TMG Insights, a member of Gallup International.
According to the survey, the European average ranks world leaders as follows: Pope +29 percent, Modi -15 percent, Xi -35 percent, Trump -42 percent, Netanyahu -48 percent, Putin -58 percent.
