From November 1, "Infostan" Belgrade will start reprogramming the debt of communal services, so citizens who have debts will be able to apply for the next six months, until the end of April next year, RTS reported.
The reprogram gives citizens the opportunity to settle their debts for communal services by August 31 of this year in several monthly installments, with interest written off, and for certain categories in 60 monthly installments.
Director of the Collection Sector of "Infostan", Lidija Gligorić, said that the general conditions of the reprogramming are a complete write-off of interest and a write-off of five to 15 percent of the principal debt, depending on the number of monthly installments to be repaid - in three, six or 12 installments.
"This reprogram differs from previous ones, because for the first time a category of beneficiaries with low incomes is recognized, namely socially vulnerable categories and pensioners, who are registered as recipients of cash social assistance or registered in the Republic Fund for Pension and Disability Insurance as pensioners", said Gligorić.
She explained that special conditions, complete write-off of interest and 20 percent write-off of the main debt, regardless of the number of monthly installments to be repaid - 12, 24, 48 or 60, depending on the amount of the debt. Gligorić stated that the reprogramming refers to all due unpaid claims, whether they are with courts, public executors or unclaimed debts.
When asked how much the citizens of Belgrade owe for utilities and what percentage of users it is, Gligorić did not have an answer, but she emphasized that the collection is more than 90 percent.
"The unified collection system is the only one that can ensure such a high percentage of collection, but these are non-collectible claims, of users who have no income, or they are very low, various life circumstances have led them to accumulated debts, or they are debts of the deceased that the heirs are now taking over" , she added. On the other hand, Gligorić noted that users of communal services who regularly pay their obligations each month receive a discount of five, six or seven percent, depending on the continuity of regular payments".
