Sexual violence in IS Petnica

June 24, 18:26

In the new issue, the weekly "Vreme" brings confessions of five victims who in the period from 2003. to 2014. experienced sexual violence from the same man in the Petnica Research Station. It is about the coercion of minors and girls who have just come of age to be photographed without clothes. The methods of the abusers ranged from manipulation of the victims, to open coercion to drink alcohol, blackmail, threats... In two cases, there was physical aggression, and in one case, the victim was photographed in an unconscious state.

According to "Vremen" information, there are more than 20 victims who confided in someone, while the actual number is unknown.

Some of the interlocutors of "Vremen" years ago tried to raise this issue before the Station's management, and even reported the case to the police. Due to the inadequate responses of the adults to whom they were addressed, the cases are out of date.

"Time" also brings statements of the former director of IS Petnica, Vigor Majić, and the current one - Nicholas Bozic. According to them, the administration knew that the problem existed since 2014, but the first measures were taken only in 2017.

We also transfer Vigor Majić's personal apology victims of violence in Petnica.

The new issue of "Vremena" is available on newsstands from Thursday, June 24.
