"Legal merger" Yettel and SBB will take place in 2026, after which we will continue to operate as Yettel. It is important for me to emphasize that this does not mean that they will SBB as a brand, to immediately cease to exist, on the contrary, but in the long term, we are working to unify the business under one brand," said Michel in an interview with the Beta agency.
He confirmed that the most important event for the company in 2025 was the purchase and takeover of SBB by e&PPF Telecom Group and the start of integration.
"By uniting two strong companies, two market leaders - Yettel in mobile communications and SBB in household services - we want to transform from a traditional telecommunications company into a digital and technological company. In the coming period, we will expand the offer for individuals and business users and provide even better and more diverse services. We offer an entire ecosystem of services that unites all telecommunications and banking services in one place, with various benefits. Simply put, it's an 'all in one place' concept, with with a single subscription that eliminates double costs, brings savings and relies on a top-quality network," emphasized Michel.
He stated that the main advantage of Yettel is its network, which according to him is the main reason why users choose that company.
"We are constantly improving it, so that it remains stable, safe and reliable, with sufficient capacity. 5G was the logical next step in its development. Just a few weeks ago, we made it possible for all our users to have 5G on their phones. On the same day that we received all the necessary regulatory approvals, we launched 5G, because we wanted users to immediately feel what it brings to them," said Michel.
He specified that after this was done, already in the first week, as much as nine percent of the total mobile traffic on the Yettel network was 5G.
"Our expansion plan is dynamic. Currently, we have covered all major cities and tourist centers, and as the network grows, the coverage will expand," emphasized the director of Yettel.
He reminded that in the previous two years, the company completely replaced the network infrastructure and introduced the most advanced technologies in order to be ready for 5G.
"It was a really big investment for us: more than 100 million euros just for the spectrum auction, with more than 60 million euros invested in the modernization of our network during 2025. As a new generation technology, it brings high speeds, minimal delay in data transmission and exceptional reliability. In short, it expands the mobile ecosystem and enables new generation services for all our users and partners. Exactly 30 years ago, our company introduced a mobile signal in Serbia, and now there is 5G and completely new technologies." Each new chapter brings new challenges and opportunities, and we see ourselves as someone who leads that development," said Michel.
He said that the company is satisfied with what was achieved in 2025.
"We have strengthened our position on the market. Our growth in income and business is stable, and it is based on several things: growing postpaid bases thanks to the fact that we now have a wider ecosystem of services and growth in the segment of home internet and TV. Here we have successfully preserved and additionally strengthened relations with users of Yettel and SBB, which brought us closer to the joint figure of 900.000 users," said the director of Yettel.
Michel also stated that Yettel Bank is included in the ecosystem, which, he believes, has given it a great advantage over the competition.
"Our joint product, 'Yettel Sve', has been very well accepted in the market, with more than 50.000 users in the first six months. It's a great feeling when you see that what you wanted - which is the synergy of mobile, landline and banking services - is really coming true. In mobile telephony, we have more than 33 percent of all users, with growth in the postpaid part. In the segment of home Internet and TV services, as I already mentioned, we are close to the figure of 900.000 shared users. This gives us a strong position in the market and is a springboard for further growth," said Michel.
He pointed out that Yettel is satisfied with its market position in Serbia, recalling that the company in the telecommunications sector has already built a leading position on the Serbian market, with, as he stated, a strong brand and strong user trust.
"Today, we transfer that strength and experience to the banking sector with a clear ambition and with the strong support of PPF Group, we are working towards Yettel bank taking the position it deserves. I am convinced that Yettel bank is the best retail bank in Serbia, and the results confirm that we are on the right track - through the ecosystem product 'Yettel Sve', which connects banking and telecommunications, tens of thousands of users already have a unique digital experience that sets us apart on the market," said Mišel.
At the same time, as he pointed out, the bank is positioned at the very top in terms of key indicators of user experience.
"We are the first in the market when it comes to NPS, innovation and digital banking," said Michel.
According to him, Yettel's goal is to develop from a telecommunications company to a technology company in 2006.
"During 2025, thanks to the integration with SBB, we have already taken the first steps in that direction, offering a whole range of ICT services to business users, while we are planning several new ones for 2026. We have also included artificial intelligence in all business segments and started retraining the teams. To be completely clear, 2026 will be another year of growth and pushing the boundaries," said the director of Yettel.
He added that intensive work will be done with data and artificial intelligence and the digitization process will be accelerated.
"Our vision is clear - to become the favorite digital brand in Serbia," said Michel.
Speaking about Yettel's corporate social responsibility, Michel stated that everything is done in a sustainable way and that this is embedded in all activities and gave several examples.
"A few days ago, we successfully launched the contract signing process for home internet and TV, as well as for 'Yettel Everything', in a digital format, without paper, two years after we introduced the same process for contracts for mobile services. This means that the contract signing is now done entirely via tablets, which means that there is no need to print, distribute or archive anything anymore. So, significantly less paper. We are very proud of that," said Michel.
To that should be added, as he said, the fact that 1,3 million users of the company already receive electronic instead of paper invoices.
"And to emphasize, we don't just follow digital trends in Serbia, we set them. We like to be the first. A few weeks ago, we successfully launched an initiative that fundamentally changes the way postpaid services are sold. Users can now sign a postpaid contract for a new number completely online (through the Yettel web store and the Yettel app), get all the documentation digitally and immediately activate the eSIM, without going to a store. It's a completely different user experience, and much better," said the director. Yettela.
He also emphasized that the company has recycled more than two million devices so far.
"Everything we sell can be recycled here. Our new goal is to recycle 2,7 million devices by the end of 2027," he specified.
He added that Yettel is not alone on this path and that the competition is following him.
"We are glad about that. We also believe in the rights of partnerships in which we think alike, so, among other things, we cooperated with the 'Supernatural' and 'Startup Kidz Challenge' programs. Our strategy is based on sustainability, and it will be so in the years to come. We will remain consistent on that path," said Michel.
