Hundreds of protesters gathered in Waitsfield, Vermont, to prevent the announced arrival of the US vice president to go skiing with his family. All because of the relationship Trampa and Vance according to Ukraine.
Demonstrations were planned earlier this week and were organized by a local group, however, after watching the meeting at the White House, many came forward to say they were ready to join the demonstration, the Guardian writes.
Demonstrators held signs reading "Vermont Stands With Ukraine" and "International Shame," while many waved Ukrainian flags in solidarity. Fox TV aired video of the protesters, but blacked out signs that had anti-Vance and pro-Ukraine messages.
"After what he did, he crossed the line," protester Corey Giraud told Vermont Radio.
On Thursday, Gov. Phil Scott, a Republican who has refused to vote for Trump in any of his three bids for the White House, issued a statement urging Vermonters to respect Vance and his family during their visit.
"Please join me in welcoming them to Vermont and hopefully they will have the opportunity to experience what makes our state and its citizens so special," he said.
Leading Democratic lawmakers also sided with Zelensky, with Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut calling the Oval Office meeting an "ambush" set up by Trump and Vance for the Ukrainian president.
The acrimonious meeting sparked protests in cities across the US, including New York, Los Angeles and Boston, where hundreds of people gathered to show support for Ukraine and Zelenskyi.
