Airline Air Serbia from May 19 to 26 offers discounts to more than 80 destinations, for trips from October 1 this year to March 28 next year, this company announced.
Otherwise, prices plane tickets they are increasingly difficult to digest for the average person's pocket, and there are many hidden costs, such as luggage, which is also increasingly expensive.
"Until this year, a return ticket from Belgrade to Rome via Wizz Air could be found for a maximum of 100 euros. Now it's practically impossible," Ivan from Belgrade, who has been "hanging" on various applications for weeks trying to find a plane ticket at a decent price, tells "Vreme".
"Specifically, two years ago we combined Wizz Air from Belgrade to Rome and Ryan Air from Rome to Palermo. Eight tickets cost us less than 30.000 dinars, and we traveled during the peak season in the second half of July," adds our interlocutor.
However, Air Serbia's offer is not valid for the current summer season, so it is not of much help to those searching for vacation offers.
And since it's the season vacations around the corner, with it comes the eternal question - where and how to travel if we are unable or simply do not want to spend an insane amount of money for a vacation?
Therefore, it is not amiss to know a few tricks that can significantly reduce the total cost of air travel.
Google smartly.
You can "Google" the flights that are interesting to you, because the world's most famous search engine, among other things, offers a search for airplane flights (Google Flights).
To get the most out of Google Flights, it's best to think ahead and, probably most importantly, be flexible.
There is an option to travel "anywhere", choose the month and the actual duration of the trip, and the search engine throws up available flights for the desired criteria.
For example, a return trip to Rome is thus possible from September 15 to 24 for 8.820 dinars, while at the end of August you can travel to the same city for 9.742 dinars. Of course, the cheapest prices also require certain concessions, so they do not include checked baggage, which, optionally, is charged several thousand dinars.
By the way, there is also an opinion that searching for flights should be done in "incognito" mode, because companies allegedly use cookies to track our previous searches and "inflate" flight prices based on that. Experts, however, claim that it is an urban myth.
Cheap flight apps
Flights often cost more if we search directly through the airline than if we use other search methods. Frequent travelers therefore use apps such as Skyscanner and Kiwi, which offer alternative methods of finding flights.
How do these apps work? First, they also offer the possibility of traveling "anywhere", and based on the prices of flights from the airport you choose, you can further plan your trip.
If you select "cheapest month" or "whole month" on the Skyscanner app, Skyscanner will show the cheapest countries and then the cities within them. A calendar is displayed with prices within a month, with green days being the cheapest.
Furthermore, there is the possibility of combining flights even of airlines that do not normally cooperate. For example, if you want to travel to a European city for two weeks, you can kill two birds with one stone and visit several cities for the price of one. For example, if you have a two-week vacation in July, you can travel from Belgrade to Paris for less than 20.000 dinars, and after a week in the capital of France, you will travel to Barcelona, from where you will return directly to Belgrade after a week.
The Kiwi app is especially useful for this, which offers the Kiwi Nomad option - you enter several places you want to visit, and Kiwi finds the cheapest sequence and combination of flights.
People who travel a lot advise to use these apps in addition to "Googling" because the prices for the same location can vary.
Some more tips
Don't forget to search for one-way tickets as well, as two one-way tickets often turn out to be cheaper than one return ticket.
If you can, buy fewer tickets in one purchase. It happens that the prices for buying several tickets at once are higher.
For international flights, it is best to ask for a ticket at least two and at most eight months in advance, according to Google Flights statistics.
If you're traveling to a larger city, check prices to nearby airports as well. Flights there are often cheaper, and the city is easily accessible by public transportation. The same applies to departure - sometimes it is cheaper to travel to Nis, Budapest, Timisoara or Tuzla and board a flight there, than to travel directly from Belgrade.
Finally, since the beginning of the 20th century, it has been believed that Tuesday is the cheapest day to fly. Today, this may not always be true, but most often flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as well as on Saturdays, are really more favorable than flights at the beginning or end of the week because fewer people travel on those days.
