A planetary celebration of a unique artistic discipline, based on the universality of a language that transcends all political, cultural and ethnic boundaries, offering the possibility of uniting people around a common and unique experience - the game! Every year, a famous choreographer or dancer sends a message that goes around the world. The message is translated into all languages of the world.
This year, Mihail Baryshnikov was chosen as the author of the letter. This is his message:
"It is often said that play can express the unspeakable. Joy, sadness and despair become visible; embodied expressions of our common fragility. That play can awaken empathy, inspire kindness, encourage the desire to heal rather than hurt... Especially at a time when hundreds of thousands of people suffer uncertainty and the consequences of wars, witness political upheavals or protest injustice - the sincerity of our thoughts becomes vital. It is a heavy duty and burden for the body, for the game and art. Still, art is the best way to give shape to the unspoken, and ask the questions: Where is my truth? How do I honor myself and my community?"
