Information to BITEF Board is on the verge of dissolution because three of its members resigned, which was announced in the media on Wednesday, Svetozar Cvetković, Chairman of the Board considers incorrect because it is not official.
He says the following for "Vreme":
"The truth is this: we are working to ensure that Bitef exists and very soon we will announce what Bitef's repertoire looks like. Something can topple it, but I don't believe it."
All other information related to the status of any of us will be somehow made official, but what we are doing is the program of this year's Bitef."
Unofficial information states that playwright Đorđe Kosić, journalist Borka Trebješenin and actor Svetozar Cvetković resigned. It is considered unofficial, because it was not confirmed by the Secretariat for Culture, that is, it did not dismiss a single member of Bitef, including Đorđe Kosić, who resigned shortly after his appointment due to personal reasons. It is not known when they will be released.
Borka Trebješanin confirms for "Vreme" that she resigned. "I didn't want to endanger Bitef, which is above me, with my voice or non-vote. I believe that Bitef should definitely be held this year, because that festival is an important representation of our culture."
In practice, this means that the Board exists in its entirety because it has not been dismissed, and until then it will continue to do its job - preparing this year's Bitef.
To the inquiry we sent last week to the Secretariat for information on whether and when this year's Bitef will be held, we received an answer after the requested deadline: "The beginning of this year's Bitef festival was moved from the end of September to the end of November by the decision of the Event Committee."
