At today's (April 2) session of the Šabac City Assembly, Aleksandra Delic was appointed as the director of the Šabac Theater, although the councilors were aware of the arguments that prove that such a choice would be wrong.
Immediately after the session, the employees of the Šabac Theater decided to go on a one-hour strike tomorrow, Thursday, from 20:XNUMX p.m., at the time when the performance "Madam Minister" was scheduled to begin. During the strike, the actors of the play will be in costume in the theater with the audience and will explain to them their reasons for demanding the removal of the appointed director.
Aleksandra Delic has been the acting director of the Šabac Theater since February of last year until today.
Bad relationship with employees
Out of 31 employees, 21 think that she should not be the head of their house. They warned the mayor and the president of the Assembly about their reasons.
In the request by which they asked Nemanja Pajić not to include the appointment of the director on the agenda of today's session of the Assembly, but the dismissal of the acting director, they pointed out numerous inaccuracies in the explanation of the Board of Directors proposing her as director.
The management board states that it is convinced of the good relationship of the aforementioned with the collective. Employees say that Aleksandra Delic has not had a good relationship with most of the collective since December last year. This is reflected in the messages she sent to the employees cursing them, the threats she made to the employees that they would not be paid if they expressed their opinion (if they supported the student protests), the insults she uttered to the employees regarding their intellect, and the two-week refusal to communicate with the representative union.
They also stated that they doubt that "Ms. Delic meets the requirement to be a director because, according to our knowledge, she does not have five years of experience working in culture, nor have we seen evidence of such work."
Further: although her mandate as acting director has expired, she is on 6.2.2025 February XNUMX. made changes to the Rulebook on systematization "by which it terminated four jobs (tailor, wardrobe, decorator and program organizer) and opened two new ones that, in our opinion, are not needed in our theater (scenographer and dramaturg)". According to that new Rulebook, and before it came into force, Jelena Ivetić fired the organizer.
Material damage
The petition demanding the dismissal of Aleksandra Delić was signed by 1 people by April 2269.
In the explanation of the petition, they refer to Article 39 of the Law on Culture, according to which the founder of the institution should dismiss the director (and not appoint him as the City Assembly did today) if he causes greater damage to the institution, and state the following:
"Our theater has a little more than 300 seats in the auditorium, and in February the acting director, whose mandate expired, canceled five performances, our theater did not earn anything from the possible 750.000 dinars that month as well. In March, performances were played, but at the request of Aleksandra Delić, according to her, without marketing (except for the one that the actors themselves carried out), so less than a hundred tickets were sold for each of the six performances (of which many tickets were free), which means that we did not make a possible profit of 600.000 dinars in March. The premiere of the play, which, according to the scope of the production and our expert assessment, could not have cost less than 1.500.000 dinars, was postponed.
Today, the first working day after she became the director, Aleksandra Delic was not at her workplace due to illness.
The employees expect to come tomorrow, and say they will not be surprised if the one-hour strike cancels "Madame Minister", as it has canceled previous performances during these protest months.
