The historical museum was granted a request to carry out the reconstruction of the Railway Station building. However, due to a leveling error during the renovation of Sava square, the building was below the level of the square, which makes it impossible to approach it.
The History Museum of Serbia has been approved for the reconstruction of the former Post Office building in Belgrade, in order to adapt it to the museum's purpose - its third request was approved by the City Secretariat for Urban Planning on May 9.
It is about the Request for a decision on the approval of the execution of works, which is requested from the City Secretariat by the investor, the Historical Museum of Serbia. This is the third one like this request of the History Museum.
Therefore, the investor now only needs to submit a work application, choose a contractor, and finally start. Minister Siniša Mali is this Saturday, in front of the journalists on Savski Square, said that "by the end of next week" he will start selecting the performers.
About 8.850 square meters will be reconstructed, which, according to the estimate, will cost 25 million euros.
The subject of the conceptual project is the execution of works on the reconstruction, rehabilitation, adaptation and change of purpose of the building of the History Museum of Serbia (former Main Railway Station), within the existing dimensions and volume of the building. Functional reorganization of certain parts of the building, reconstruction, rehabilitation and adaptation of the interior of the building and its repurposing into the Historical Museum of Serbia are planned.
In addition to the dimensions, the pedestrian access to the building must not be changed either, which can turn out to be a problem.
Namely, at the moment it is not possible to enter the building of the former Railway Station because the level of the Sava square, who knows why, is raised above the level of its main entrance. This means that whoever wants to visit the future Museum of History must first go down from Sava Square to the level of the building, then take its stairs, which were the decoration of the building and which are now hidden by the plateau, to reach the entrance.
Let's say that going down and then going up will not be an insurmountable obstacle for pedestrians, but it is not clear how trucks and similar vehicles will experience it, which will definitely be used during the reconstruction and relocation.

Croatian producers have banned "Dražen" from being shown at the Balkan Festival of Film Directors, but not because they don't like Belgrade, but because of a conflict with director Danilo Šerbedžija
