The Belgrade "Family Days" start on Sunday with the Belgrade Marathon. During two months, there will be concerts, stands, and various street parties at an unknown price
Tomorrow, April 6, the Belgrade Marathon begins, the largest sports event held in Belgrade, a race of 42 and 21 kilometers, respectively.
The third Belgrade Family Days begin with the Belgrade Marathon, which will last until June 1 - two months, on Saturdays and Sundays. They inherited the Belgrade Winter, a month-long event that began with a New Year's concert by Haris Džinović, Marina Visković and Željko Vasić, which was attended by few.
"It is important for us that we have events throughout the year," Nikola Nikodijević, the president of the city assembly, explained to the media.
The price is a secret.
Speaking about Family Days, he did not mention how much it will all cost, which means that the people of Belgrade will not reveal how much they pay for the event this year, just as it remained a secret for the previous two editions of this event, which is called the Šapić fair.
Like last year, there will be a stage for concerts in Knez Mihailova, and Kalemegdan, Sava Promenada, Tašmajdan and Ada Ciganlija will also be activated.
The city authorities have announced more than 150 concerts of pop, rock, jazz, blues and children's music, cultural and artistic societies, street art artists who will paint murals in Knez Mihailova, and numerous interactive video games are also planned.
The central event will be at Kalemegdan, where more than 30 festivals and fairs will be held, there will be an amusement park and a dino park, more than 50 interactive children's shows and about 70 creative educational workshops, more than 20 sports competitions for children and parents, a large number of sports events and exhibitions.
Of course, everything is free.
Open-hearted city
Belgrade Family Days is the project of the mayor Aleksandar Šapić, his response to "Europride", the mayor's need to, unlike "Europride", deal with traditional values. The Belgrade family days are therefore based on the discrimination of the LGBT+ movement.
"Belgrade has always been a city with an open heart and a wide embrace, and it will remain so," said Šapić at the opening of the event.
The first, in 2023, lasted only one weekend and experienced a debacle. That's why, next year, it was extended to - two months. Aleksandar Šapić then stated that because of this two-month event, many opponents of the family "will have a nervous breakdown."
Last year, the Secretariat for Culture of the City of Belgrade did not announce tenders for the co-financing of cultural projects. It has never been confirmed or denied, but the impression is that this money was transferred to Šapić's Family Days.
