National Museum of Serbia is possibly the only museum in the country that can announce a plan for this year, which doesn't mean that the others don't have one either, but only that they don't know if they will have the money to make it happen.
Elem, the National Museum of Serbia has announced four major exhibitions this year, the opening of the renovated Archaeological Museum in Kladovo, and intensive preparations for the Archaeological Museum in Belgrade, which was announced before the Expo in the building of the old Post Office.
The first exhibition is scheduled for February 12, and will be dedicated to the realist painter Miloš Tenković. The next two will be anniversaries - the 150th anniversary of the birth of impressionist Milan Milovanović and the 175th anniversary of the birth of Đorđe Krstić.
The intention, Bojana Borić Brešković, director of the National Museum, explained to journalists, is that this year will be "in the sign of the history of art", as can be seen from the aforementioned exhibitions that connect the line from realism to impressionism.
She announced that autumn will be marked by the Middle Ages, i.e. the "Age of Faith" exhibition, which will present our art in the era of Ottoman rule.
"About how faith, national feeling, our individuality, survived and how we survived many difficult years and managed to preserve everything that is our spirit, what is Serbia, what is Serbianness," said the director of the National Museum.
During this year, the Archaeological Museum in Kladovo will be opened and renovated, the reconstruction of which began last year.
This museum has been closed since October 20, in order to renovate the building. It is planned to replace the roof covering, facade carpentry, and upgrade the air conditioning system, and the rehabilitation is being carried out with the financial support of the Đerdap Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The website of the National Museum says that the opening is expected in April this year.
