The National Library of Serbia is not on a general strike until further notice, as announced last night, but only for two days: March 6 and 7.
There seems to have been a misunderstanding.
Namely, first, at the session of the Republican Committee of the Independent Union of Culture (ROS) held on February 26, it was decided to suspend work in all cultural institutions for one hour.
Then it was also decided to go on a general strike from March 6 until the demands are met - that is, until the salary increases.
The executive board of the Trade Union of the National Library of Serbia then supported this decision.
That's why in the statement they published on Wednesday, the day before the strike, it is written that NBS employees will strike until the demands are met.
The announcement was signed by Mirjana Stanišić, president of the Independent Union of the National Library of Serbia.
However, on Thursday at 10:25, Mirjana Stanišić sent an internal email to NBS employees informing them that ROS and the NBS Union accidentally made a mistake due to fatigue, and that the strike will last only two days.
"I inform you that on February 26, 2, in the evening hours, I sent inappropriate decisions on the suspension of work. There was a technical error due to the break," wrote Mirjana Stanišić at the beginning of the email to colleagues from NBS.
Then she explains that on that day she had two meetings until late in the evening, that the meetings were tiring because of the harmonization of positions, and that it was finally decided to suspend work every day for one hour from February 28, and to go on a general strike on March 6 and 7.
"An incomplete ROS text was sent in error," the email said.
Then he states: "I came to the NBS at 19:24 p.m. in the evening, and without realizing the mistake, I made it myself by sending an email, at that time already quite tired and distracted." I wanted, as the law requires, to inform the management XNUMX hours before the suspension of work and at the same time all employees. The next day I couldn't do that because I traveled to Novi Sad for the session of the Council of Independent Trade Unions of Vojvodina".
Mirjana Stanišić did not respond to the request of the "Vremena" portal to clarify this situation. Also, no one from the Administration of the National Library of Serbia responded to us.
