The Ministers of Finance and Culture announced that by Expo 2027, Belgrade will receive more than 50 square meters of museum space, i.e. a museum district with four new museums, plus two more on the other side of the Sava
The Ministers of Finance and Culture, Siniša Mali and Nikola Selakovići, announced today that after the economic, the spiritual and cultural renewal of Serbia will follow, that they are about to start, from the Sava Square in Belgrade, projects that will be realized by Expo 2027.
Minister of Finance Siniša Mali announced a new museum district on the stretch from Sava square to Resavska street and Mostarska loop.
There will be four new museums in the museum quarter - the History Museum of Serbia, the Children's Museum, the Museum of the City of Belgrade, and the Nikola Tesla Museum.
It will all be completed in just three and a half years.
"We received a building permit for the Historical Museum of Serbia. We will also finish the Nikola Tesla museum by the Expo. We are demolishing the old Post Office building, there will be two theater stages and a children's museum. In Resavska, a building is being reconstructed to become the Museum of the City of Belgrade. We are building a Natural History Museum across the river and next to it we will build a large Belgrade aquarium. Next to the airport, we will reconstruct the aviation museum. That's six new museums in the next three and a half years - said Finance Minister Sinisa Mali.
He also announced that the largest and most modern city market is being built under the Gazela bridge, while the Ložionica, a center for gathering and creativity of young people, will be completed by the end of the year.
"We are building a new bridge over the Sava River, instead of a tram bridge, it will be a bridge with two lanes in both directions, with a path for pedestrians as well as for cyclists." "Works on the construction of the tunnel that connects the plateau near the Faculty of Economics and Despota Stefana Boulevard will start in the next few weeks," he said.
Also, "next to the Fair, a promenade will be built to Ada Ciganlija, and there will be as many as three opera halls in Hall 1." "The Linijski and Svetonikolski Parks will be renovated and arranged."
The Minister of Finance did not even mention how much it will cost Serbia or where all this money will come from.
The Minister of Culture Nikola Selakovič then repeated all that and specified that "the building of the old Railway Station from 1884 will, in the coming months, not in the coming years, but in the next two to three months, be one big construction site for the History Museum of Serbia". .
Then, said the Minister of Culture, the building of the former Post Office No. 2 by architect Momir Kurunović will get its old look, but as a completely new building.
"It will be one of the most beautiful facades in our city, but the facade is not important for the sake of the facade, the Children's Museum will be in that building." For the first time, we will have a Children's Museum, based on the example of the ZOOM Museum in Vienna, which should be an incubator to create future lovers and ambassadors of culture, future artists and cultural workers from our children," added Selaković and announced that within that museum there will be and two theater stages, as well as that the Museum of the City of Belgrade will finally have its own home and that it will be the largest museum in Serbia in terms of square footage.
And, finally, down Savska Street, in the building of the former "Jugošped" or Milan Vapa Paper Factory, there will be a new museum of Nikola Tesla, and on the other side of the Sava there will be a "capital building, i.e. a dedicated museum building that will be built in Belgrade - the Natural History Museum . "The capital will soon get more than 50 square meters of museum space, which it did not have until now," said Selaković, emphasized Selaković.
Minister Nikola Selaković ended his announcement with the conclusion that "these are the main, big projects, and there will be more such projects. There will be them outside of Belgrade, throughout our Serbia. What I can claim with full right and legitimacy - this is the golden age" for Serbia, from economy to culture.
