Today, Friday and Sunday, March 16, the Belgrade Irish Festival is hosting two performances on the Bitef Theater stage.
First, the group Fishamble and Pat Kinevan present the play "Tihi" ("Silent"), for which they received the Olivier Theater Award in 2016. It's a touching story about a homeless McGoldrig, who lost everything, including - his mind.
"This piece means a lot to me personally. It talks about a subject that affects me deeply, for which I feel both passion and anger and sadness. I believe that, as artists, we have to stand up and talk about the things that bother us," said Pat Kinevan in his video message to the Belgrade audience.
He also referred to the current situation in Serbia and said: "I wish everyone in Belgrade and throughout Serbia love and happiness in your fight for justice and right things - with love and peace."
The play was directed by Jim Culleton, with lyrics written by Pat Kinnevan.
Two evenings later, on Sunday, March 16, we have the opportunity to see the musical theater "By the sea" whose authors and performers are the Irish-Serbian married couple, composer Ian Wislon and violinist Dušica Mlađenović, a member of the Belgrade Philharmonic.
It is an innovative piece of music for violin that takes place in a scenography reminiscent of a dock by the sea. Wilson wrote this piece after the death of his father, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, to examine the role of memory and music in shaping personality and establishing the strongest family bonds. Violinist Dušica Mlađenović tells us a family story through music, movement and interaction with objects on stage - without words.
