On June 15, the Belgrade Philharmonic celebrates its 102nd birthday in Dortmund, not only because it doesn't have its own building even in those years, but above all because it is part of the "Rahmanjin Marathon".
Namely, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra is part of the event where, from morning to evening, in the Dortmund Concert Hall, the orchestras will perform all three symphonies and the first three piano concertos of Sergei Rachmaninoff.
It will be another meeting with the Dortmund orchestra.
The idea to bring two orchestras together in the performance of Rachmaninov's music came from joint chief conductor Gabriel Feltz, who had already done so with the Beethoven Marathon in Dortmund and Novi Sad in 2022.
At the start of the marathon at 11 a.m., the Dortmund Orchestra under the baton of Mateusz Moleda together with pianist Beatrice Beru will perform the First Piano Concerto, followed by the First Symphony.
The Belgrade Philharmonic takes over the baton with a performance at 15 pm together with Olga Šeps with the Second Piano Concerto and the Second Symphony under the baton of Moritz Gnan.
The finale of the marathon is scheduled for 19:XNUMX, and the two orchestras come together in a unique performance of the famous Third Piano Concerto with Bernd Glemzer and the Third Symphony under the direction of Mateusz Moleda.
By the way, the Belgrade Philharmonic is preparing for a gala concert with one of the greatest artists in the history of music - Zubin Mehta on October 27 in the Serbian capital.
In the new season, which is called "Crescendo", there will be 25 new concerts. The works that have changed the course of history in terms of style and genre have been selected and are "a kind of pinnacle of musical creativity", announced the Philharmonic.
